Mine were charged out of the box.

Charging them while playing takes very little time when docked and the charge lasts a long long time!

My switch is behind the tv. I bought a charging station for the joycons so I don't have to fiddle with the switch itself when the pads need a recharge.

My only complaint is the loose feeling analogue sticks and how difficult it is for me to discern L and R from LZ and RZ.

I may get a Pro Controller one day.

That seems neat, but there has been a few times where I needed to yndock the Switch for it to connect to my controller and TV for some reason.

Nintendo cut a lot of corners to keep the Switch price down.

Most console makers do that these days.

I remember when consoles came with 2 controllers and a game by default.

You pretty much need to spend at least an extra $100-$150 on accessories in addition to the 'base' console price these days.
