I have never played a game like this. If you die, do you lose your experience and leveling since the last save spot?

15 tips for bloodbourne beginners
eta reading that link makes me wish I was about to play and not leaving for the gym

That video really puts things in persepective. The cool thing I'm realizing is that you get all the $$ back when you kill the enemy who killed you

Yes, as long as you don't die again

How I'm rolling:
Level 29, using Ludwig's Holy Blade (greatsword) as primary weapon now.

This is the weapon I want next. I just need to save up for it.

Probably a dumb question, but can you get different types of armor and are there separate classes to chose from like hunter, warrior, mage?

Anyone can wear anything. Just have to have the minimum required stats to wear it. You can starting points, but they're largely irrelevant because you level up stats individually after creation.

How did you miss Demon's Souls and Dark Souls?! You don't de-lvl, you just use all of your currency (which is used to level up, buy items, repair gear, etc).

I don't know how I missed them. I kind of was always turned off by the always dying part but I didn't really understand how it worked. I didn't start playing games a lot until after college. I guess I'll add it to my series to play with God of war and mass effect. Speaking of GOW Ps3 or vita?

Not all of us have played everything

But tconle has played some very niche crap. Stuff that only I would have played otherwise.

I'd go on Ps3, because I played the series on console and it's very visually appealing. God of War 3 and Ascension still look incredible.

Like he said, he's playing catch up. I'm in the same boat. I didn't start till a couple of years ago.

For the most part a lot of the armor is similar. There are some small variations, but it's all pretty same-y outside of the unique gear sets.
The series has always been about weapon growth. Big clunky armor doesn't have a place in Bloodborne.

I'm a n00b to the Souls games.
This game is kicking my arse. I picked the axe and the pistol. I can do well for the most part but then after I killed that entire mob by the fire in the beginning, a guy with a gun up on the balcony area blasted me.
I've died probably 30 times already
game is great though...any tips for noobs? (i did read that link above)

The axe's 2h charge attack is really good. I'd try to use that when you can.

Axe is definitely the best starter weapon imo. The video I linked will give a few tips on navigation and things to make it easier (especially getting to a point where you can level up).
Btw, the doll is so great. Reminds me of Maiden in Black.
