I mean, you will have a very different reaction to characters if you played RD1 first. You’ll have some story dynamics that are new constructions of characters.
It’s fair to say that these games are meant to be portrayed from a subjective character and the world they see is clouded by that subjectivity

Wait so I found out that you can set a marker then enter cinematic mode and press x to have your horse run to destination.
You can still get shot at and have encounters along the way.
It isn’t exactly fast travel but I’m happy they have this feature.
Some of my previous post mentioned that they failed to address this issue. They just hid it or didn’t make obvious

The cimematic travel mode is the only way I've been traveling, it's so awesome how is implemented and I can drop a beer while galloping along, I figured out last night once you hold X in cinematic mode and the horse locks in, you can even let go of X and he still goes.

I thought that was explained at the start of the game. It was really quick. That is an awesome feature though.

they implied that you have to hold X to keep the horse on track. It's more like a hold-x toggles it on. But like other things in this game, explanation wasn't super clear.

Haven't even gotten through the snowy intro yet. How long until the open world is unlocked? I'm on the second mission where you go looking for someone with Javier. Plan on playing a ton when I get home from work.

Only some general stores. Also.. it’s hard to notice how much of an effect it has. It takes a long long long long time to grow your beard out. Like weeks at least of in-game time at least. I managed to grow it out do to some spoilers stuff fully and then I cut it all off

Not that long. Just keep playing a few more story missions and you will be in the green grass and out the cold.
