The power some of you give a word is embarrassing, but not surprising.

Apparently, there is significant power in this profane word, possessing white skin, and revolutionary and confederate era statues.

Neutrality/Apathy toward any/all of the above things seem to implicate one as a racist, without any consideration to their actual actions. And social media just provides an outlet to both propagate and enforce this nonsense.

It's completely ridiculous, and really not worth the time it takes to consider the stance, or argue with anyone who holds it.

they get all butthurt over a YouTube star using the word. Then get called out on it. Then do the exact thing in response by insulting someone here using inflammatory terms.

Ohh man. gotta love the liberals in this country.

This sensitive era is a trolls dream.

In all seriousness though. Morgan freeman said it best.....just stop talking about it. People give the word power when it doesn't have to have it anymore. But you know Morgan freeman doesn't fit the agenda so now he's just an Uncle Tom!!!!!!

Oh and we just recently had a president who choose to pick a side and divide this country even more because a Hispanic killed a young African American. I need trump to step to the podium and deliver a " If I had another Son speech. " Oh that meltdown would be glorious.

Says who? Who dictates what is and isn't "okay"?

Not some purse wringing pantywaist for sure.

If it's "not okay" then why in the frick have the rich executives been pushing hip hop, laden with ******* on suburban white teens for 30 years?

That dog don't hunt. You need to grow a pair and realize that censorship is a fool's game.

But apparently it still is considered 'normal' in some backwards places as evidenced by the toxicity of the responses in this thread.... on a subforum of a greater southern based college sports team message board. Go figure.

I know it's not ok. I don't use those words because I do not think it's right. That said, why do I care that someone said a bad word online. I don't see the goal of policing a person speech on the internet. I can continue to mostly ignore Pewdiepie (which I have done and will continue to do), but my lack of dissent to a guy on the internet's speech isn't normalizing it. Doing so is self-serving virtue signaling. I have nothing to prove to anyone, even moreso when a youtuber messes up.

Apologize for what?

It was a slip and he did not mean it in any terrible context.

See, it's this lesson we're trying to teach our 11 year old. "I know you didn't mean to hurt your brother, but you did, and you need to apologize."

Basic adulting.

Can you clarify what "hurt" is defined as in your example, because there is another lesson we teach children at a young age:

"Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but ...."

I can only imagine the affect sticks and stones would have on some folks around here and on the internet

Look, if he had called someone "she" and a viewer got upset at him gender assigning, I'd be on board with you. But if you can't acknowledge that dropping the n bomb, regardless of context, is going to piss off a LOT of people, then you're in denial.

"But rap music..."

I still hold that the solution isn't that we all get to say it, it's that no one says it. The history of the word is so hate filled and it just needs to go, I don't care how playfully you use it.

Look, I get how the far left gets and it's madness. I don't care how many gender identities you have, there are only two genders. So celebrating a scientifically proven mental illness. But "n***er" is just an easy one that you should just stay away from.
