I see all these adds on Facebook and etc for retro gaming systems that supposedly have a plethora of old video games through emulators. Are any of these sellers actually legit that are not scammers?

Don't do it, lookup this channel and go down THIS rabbit hole, not those ads:

Retro Game Corps

ETA: There are a million different ways to play older games via emulation, but so many of them aren't worth your money, RGC lays all the information out for you in a very easy to digest format.

I've been doing my retro gaming on the AYN Odin 2 Portal for the last 5 months and it's AMAZING, but everyone is different with what they need.
8 miles - 5 solo at 8:30 and 3 with a stroller at 10:09

Similar to Aubie - Ate pizza and drank Dr pepper (cause I can't afford wings and I don't drink alcohol )

What was the format?

2.1 miles, 40 minutes

200ft of elevation and very technical trails.

The 40 minutes felt generous until the technicality of the trail meant you didn't want to wait around after finishing your lap. After awhile I couldn't get any food down and stay, and with 40 minutes per 2 miles I couldn't "speed it along" to get past my issues. So I just got worse and worse until I called it
I did 62.4 Saturday... turns out the "Backyard Ultra" format is kinda brutal in a very bad way  This one was on a trail and by the end it was manageable, but it was tough, very tough. Couldn't keep any food down, once I got to the end of the big climb at mile 59 I knew my time was coming to an end.
I know this group isn't probably super big into Jeffing but for the running community as a whole we should all pour one out for Jeff Galloway tonight. Dude probably brought more people into running than any other person. Almost everyone I talk to started their journey doing run/walk, he was a huge force behind changing people's opinions about "walking breaks". So whether you ever did run/walk or not, hear! hear!

Don’t understand this logic. Weather is the one thing you’ll never control. Either you’re trained for a marathon or you’re not. What’s the worst that can happen. You don’t hit that PR. Oh well but you gained experience for the next one if you get another opportunity. Life is short

This, weather is just weather.

In January getting the flu is bad, sickness is just terrible, but the weather? Ya gotta YOLO that race:cheers:

ETA, PS: KS I have my first backyard ultra this weekend! For now I'm going for the win!

Problem is wrist based heart monitors are not reliable. I just run at a comfortable pace for easy runs, have never looked at heart rate.

Also in my experience: "zone 2 cardio" especially as it relates to running is waaaaaay too over prescribed to newer runners. When someone is first starting out they are not going to be able to truly do "zone 2" training... It takes time and experience to learn what "zone 2" means for yourself, lots and lots of experience.

I always just tell people to run when they can and try to enjoy it, because once you stop enjoying it you've probably pushed yourself into "gonna get injured" zone

Y'all make me sick with these ultras. A 14 mile long run when I was prepping for a half made me question why anyone would do even a marathon

If it makes you feel any better - after running a 100 miler I also don't get why people race a Marathon, it's a terrible distance

Played around with ladiga. Would be the fastest 100 I ever ran lol

I want to run Ladiga, but I have 4 friends running Blue Heron... hard to pass up running a race you know you have built in support vs. one you do not.

Also Blue Heron has a better buckle

 good job!!

ETA: is anyone doing Blue Heron Hundreds or Chief Ladiga this year?
4 Hours today... so glad this "block" is over.
First week - 51 Miles, 23 mile long run
Second Week - 48 miles, Marathon Long run - 4 minute PR  :wtf:
Third Week - 42 Miles, 30 on Trails, 18 Mile long run with 2,100ft of Elevation today...

I'm ready for some recovery, my body doesn't quite like the abuse I'm putting it through

You looked strong out there!! Good job man!

I made the decision to run the Marathon last Saturday during my 24 mile run... Ran it today and got a 4 minute PR!!

looks like a fast course. i still miss mercedes is gone this time of year.

Great course, 5 miles from my house as well. The trail is a bit longer than 8 miles one way as well, so if you do 1 out and back it's 16 miles. They are working to extend it on both sides as well.

Needless to say I'm happy that such a place exist so close to my house, and I've started using it a lot recently, basically for 30 to 40 percent of my runs.

Railway? I’m running the half. Doing the same thing. No plan, just showing up.

If you want to try to keep up with me you are more than welcome to... my current strategy is going to be to keep it between 8:00 and 8:30 with a 6/1 run/walk method for at least 14 miles. After that depending on how I'm feeling I'll keep it 6/1 or drop it down to 6/:30 or just all run and finish strong.
I'm running a marathon this weekend for fun during the middle of my training plan... someone send help

Any gaming board members from 15 years ago still around?

I'm RIIIIIGHT on the cusp of it, joined in 2011, I think most of da clan stuff was still going on. I joined right in time for the era of Finch, Sic, and Devious to kick off.

I wouldn't say I'm still around either, I post like once a month these days, and mostly about running (as I run 100 milers these days... not a whole lot of time for gaming when running that much)

ETA: I do own an Odin 2 Portal that I play retro games on, and also play bigger games such as Expedition 33 last year, just don't have even close to as much time to game these days (my 7 year old games way more than I do)

Expanse season 3 is incredible

I'm currently reading through Abaddon's Gate (the 3rd book that the 3rd season follows)!! I watched the show and went back to the beginning with the books. Absolutely incredible series!

The really funny thing to me is that after watching the show you naturally make the characters looks like the show counterparts... But Gunny, yeah, poor Gunny in the books is built like the Rock, so she has the actresses face but the Body of Dwayne Johnson while reading the books

I still dream of the day I see Drew Karpyshyn's name back on a writers screen (list)...

All the damn talk about the Megablast being like an upgraded version of the SB2 has me going buy a pair today.

I bought a pair and stopped running

I've owned them for 2 months and still haven't run in them

You're not going to get booted from friend groups for having green text, and if you do, then do you really want to talk to them?

I have an Android and I "chat" with my iPhone friends all the time in a bluebubble format. Don't see what the problem is? :dunno:
