Ive always been on playstation primarily for final fantasy above anything else and I sort of barely agree with you. I do think their obsession with big budget 3rd person action games with a heavy emphasis on narrative is becoming a bit much at this point and they need to diversify their 1st party lineup and not with shitty live services. Thats why astrobot was such a breath of fresh air. The new god of wars werent my thing but theyre objectively well made games for what theyre trying to do, Ghost of Tsushima is objectively amazing and I think the first Horizon is really good too even though its open world is a lot more shitty because of how it does its ubisoftification. The last of us one is a very good game. If you dont like these types of games id just suggest not owning a playstation since thats like their whole branding and exclusivity outside 1st party is dying, thankfully.

I'll add another infamous one, Microsoft buying Rare was the unofficial end of the golden age of video games. Lotta change going around that time, a major transitioning to a new type of development culture and that acquisition sorta typified the clash.
And as I said earlier in the thread, the batting average for these corporate takeovers is almost 1.000 for worse.

Souls-like games are just not fun to me.
