re: Xbox could soon feature AI and human helpers to take control over during challenging games
Posted by StansberryRules on 3/3/26 at 3:20 pm to The Pirate King
Why not just watch a streamer play the game instead? Or just watch a youtube of all the cutscenes?
Watching video games into movies with optional interactivity makes me sick.
Back in 2014 Miyamtoo once spoke his mind on this years ago in a rare moment of brutal honesty
"Miyamoto gave his thoughts on what he calls the "passive attitude" of casual gamers. He states that they take a stance where they say, "Okay, I am the customer. You are supposed to entertain me." He cites this attitude as being "pathetic" saying, "They do not know how interesting it is if you move one step further and try to challenge yourself [with more advanced games]."
Pathetic really is the right word.

Been playing through it slower than normal, caught the stomach flu and have been busy with work.
I'm like maybe 1/3 of the way through Leon's campaign if I had to guess.
Absolutely loving it so far. The two campaigns work awesomely together. Even though it's action heavy Leon's parts are still extremely tense and demanding.
Either this game is much harder than past RE games or I suck now. I am on Standard Classic and dying more than I do on Hardcore modes in past RE games.
There are tons more enemies, the enemies are way more fast and aggressive and tanky. With Grace you really do have to mostly evade and with Leon you really do have to kill the enemies with strategy rather than just guns blazing.
The only gripe I have is the ever creeping modern gaming chattiness. Hate all the "HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT?" type lines in the big moments, it would be scarier without that. Capcom has also begun adopting chattiness as a way to doing handholding you can't f'ing turn off. They literally design he lines for people with 20 second attention spans.
It's not as bad as other offenders but it's noticeable now and has gotten progressively worse.
Regardless, game is still spectacular.

Just for clarification, Mississippi is phasing out state income tax anyway
That's fine, college athletes shouldn't get a multi year head start just cuz. Either everyone pays the state income tax or nobody does.

We went from "I need a little pocket money to take my girlfriend to dinner" to "I shouldn't have to pay any taxes on the millions of dollars I make"
In less than 5 years.
I hope these types of blatantly unconstitutional laws are challenged aggressively.
Letting college professional athletes be exempt from taxes just because people like sports is fing retarded and illegal.

re: Blizzard working with Arc Raiders developer to revive StarCraft as a shooter
Posted by StansberryRules on 2/10/26 at 3:33 am to hawgfaninc
StarCraft and RTS's in general are a victim of the casualization of gaming over the past 20+ years.
Relative to gaming as a whole, RTS's are a niche genre that appeal to a certain type of gamer, usually a much more "hardcore" competitive type. They are extremely demanding to both understand and to play well.
In the late 90's, that type of gamer was much more catered to as they made up a larger relative share overall, and more importantly the dudes at the dev studios personally liked RTS's themselves.
RTS's fell by the wayside because no big studio is going to invest many years and many millions of dollars on a game for hardcore competitive players that doesn't have any hope of mass general appeal.

The odds of any of those kids ever taking the field in a single MLB game is pretty close to 0.

Just a kid trying to get a degree. Why are people so against a kid trying to go to school and better himself? Can't believe how anti education people are.

I get the feeling this will just kill Discord and within a few year people will migrate to a new platform that has way less rules.
That's been a consistent cycle throughout the Internet's brief history.

No star power, teams nobody cares about, horrible announcers, terrible QB play, horrible stadium and city, bland uniforms extremely boring game, terrible commercials, atrocious halftime
There isn't a single thing about it that was good.

re: Godfather 3
Posted by StansberryRules on 2/9/26 at 3:58 am to Morpheus
Godfather 3 is pretty bad but not quite as bad as it's remembered.
Sofia Coppola is indeed terrible. Most bad performances can usually be overlooked but she's noticeably bad.
The biggest problem with it to me is the more modern setting. Part of what makes the Godfather films so cinematic is getting to see turn of the century Italy, New York, mid century Cuba, Vegas, etc.
The movie having a much more modern setting and look and feel makes it feel very disconnected from the other two and not nearly as "epic"
Also, trying to tie into the whole Catholic church, pope death thing, felt a little too forced. Part of what I liked about the first two as that most of plot was pretty simple, behind the scenes wheelings and dealing of crime families. Trying to tie it into such "big" things took me out of it.

The problem is the NFL has become completely immune to their terrible decisions.
They have been an absolutely disgusting, poorly run freak show the last decade and ratings and revenue keep going up.
Being a monopoly is pretty sweet because you basically get consequence free living.

I see absolutely zero demand for a Lance Armstrong movie.
The general public barely remembers him or finds him remotely interesting.
Cycling is boring as hell. The "scandal" is boring as hell.
They make way too many biopics in general these days
