I recently found Diablo II in my closet at my parents because they were cleaning up to move houses. I realized that I had the CD key for the game but I didn't for the LOD expansion. I decided that the only way to play online was to download the torrent for the expansion and use an online CD key (I know probably no one is still playing online). When I tried using the online CD key with the disk installed it said the Key did not go with that product and wouldn't let me online.

My question is I have never downloaded a game and once the torrent is downloaded I have no idea how to turn the download into a playable format. If anyone could help me figure out how to do this I would appreciate it.

LINK

torrents are kind of like .zip or .rar files in that you need a special program to read them. download utorrent and open up the torrent file using the program. That should start the download.

as far as getting a cd key, I'm sure you can find a random key-gen for Diablo some where on the interwebs,

I tried torrents for games but the whole mounting (insert joke here) the hard drive thing eludes me.

its actually kinda easy

You download a a program like daemon tools and create a virtual cd-rom drive with it. This is like a real cd-rom drive but instead of inserting a cd you can mount or "insert" an image file
(.iso) onto it. An image file is an image of a cd-rom. So instead of having a physical cd you have basically a cd file that you usually would get from torrents.

I finally figured out how to download the game through the torrent but it still didn't help the fact I lost my CD Key. I can get the game to start but it won't let me play online. Oh well I guess I'll just have to wait until D3.

i had to do this for my moms computer when i installed win7. i'm suprised it worked since i told it to wipe the HDD clean. in theory, it should have wiped the daemon tools "disk drive" into oblivion and rendered win7 useless. but i tried it and it finished. that daemon tools gets the job done. i even used it to install gta: vice city on my computer.

+1

You should know, though (OP), that if you use a keygen and not a real key, you won't be able to play online. Battle.net authenticates your CDKey when you log in, so it'll tell you that you have an invalid cd key or something like that and force you to play single player.

I may have my original CD key kicking around if you want online play. Won't be able to get it for you until next week but If I have it I'll bump the thread and post it for you. I'm buying a new one anyone, missing all my discs except one and I like having the actual set rather than a burned copy.

That's what he'll probably have to do to play this game.

Older games just need a crack and they are pretty much gpod to go.

I would greatly appreciate it. It will give me something to do over Christmas break,

I know I still have the sleeves for the discs, just the discs themselves have gone missing. Probably a friend borrowed it and we both forgot about it I'll check it out when I get on land and post it if I find it man.
