I've been watching videos about GW2 all weekend and I'm pretty jacked about it.

Is everyone here planning on doing primarily pvp or pve?

Both. If it's anything like Guild Wars it will mesh well. I played a lot of PvP in GW1, but PvE was fun too.

But PvE is totally different in this game, and seems to be more interactive, less instancing, so that bodes well.

I just started reading the forums today to get more info. WvWvW seemed like a great mixture of both, a sort of giant Fort Aspenwood, which is where i spent a lot of my time in GW1. Easily the most excited I've been for a game feature ever.

Also, if anyone could shed some light on how the leveling progression will work that would be much appreciated. For example, does the experience needed to advance levels increase each consecutive level you gain. Do you have to grind to get levels or will you naturally progress through doing the main storyline and occasional random events.

None of the videos really seemed to addressed it and all I know is that it's 80 levels instead of 20, but one of the best things about GW1 was the fact that within a week or two of starting I had 4 or 5 characters at the highest level so I could experiment and find out which class I wanted to play in endgame.

More will be released when the NDA is lifted, but I'll give you the quick info on what has been revealed so far:

Like Guild Wars 1, there is a flat leveling curve, so no increases. There are more levels, so it will take more time I would assume, but again, their game IS end game, not the journey to the endgame. I figure they won't hold you up for long.

Also, they have already announced that your character will be "leveled down" for certain areas (starter areas) so content will always be challenging. If you don't start in the Charr area, you can still go there after some time to get some xp and skill points.

Naturally progress. They are putting a focus on Dynamic Events and what they call "Renown Hearts." Not grinding monsters. Self-paced is the key.

Well, first, they have also announced that Pvp is separate from PvE, and when you go the PvP hub, you are instantly leveled to 80 and have ALL skills for your class unlocked. SO you can experiment from the get go.

I don't think you'll get 5 characters max that quickly, but again, it won't be the hundreds of hours of play that other games take either.

How's it feel to play? seemed that guy that apparently has 6 characters already with elites unlocked was just fumbling about on random enemies. Constant KDs and the messmer was doing crap dmg(i was eyeing messmer )

graphics seemed kinda grainy, too much unnecessary animations, and fighting seemed chaotic like marvel vs marvel with all the points flashing on the screen.

I hope it's better than this.

22 points, and 30 is quite reachable, but not necessary. You helped a ton.

Although I am having a tough time selling some of the bigger pieces. The BDS staff for one. Everyone wants it for 40e, when clearly it sells for 55-60. I've never had anyone offer close to that and some think I am scamming.

I sent an email check your spam

d<--------@yahoo.com

BDS req 10 smite right? Tough sell, people want perfect or heal/protect.

don't feel too bad about getting 40e, I don't know what the going rates are anymore, can BDS's be dedicated anyway?

get an ambrace+ecto, shoot for 2 ambrace...I think I dyed that one white and had great mods in it...but I could have pulled them, honestly don't remember, but if so, use that as a selling point to get at least a little more out of a low ball offer.

You probably are just dealing with re-sellers, buy for 40 sell who post on message board and sell for 50+. They have like 8-10 pieces that they are churning out in Kamaden so they're just trying to get more inventory to make it worth their time to afk.

I'll keep that in mind. On and off selling while trying to get protector in Factions and Nightfall right now, that's the big goal.

How did you get to 22? Im hovering around 15 atm, trying to decided what the least expensive way of getting to 23 is.

Most efficient way:

3 Levels of Mini-Pets (Plus the Rare and Unique) - 6 points
3 Levels of Fellowship - 5 points
1 Vabbian, Ancient, and Asuran Armor - 5 Points
1 Destroyer and Tormented Weapon - 3 Points
beat All three Campaigns - 5 points

I still need Oppressor weapon, and the Protector Titles. I'm not sure what I'll do after that, probably grind the rest of the fellowship stuff.

The reports say that anyone who is can't say they are.

So don't worry, this guild isn't "live" in the beta. Plus there's only been one Public Beta event (last weekend).

And yes, it will START when the game is live. Muppet or I will start it and send out the invites.

Don't worry, this will be quite an active guild, at least that's the plan.

Spring Cleaning Part 1

1. Ok I went back through the thread and added some names. I avoided adding names unless specifically asked, but I went ahead and thought if you posted, you wanted in.

Added: Jahel, TigerTalk, displacedtiger

2. Why don't we keep gathering potential classes. At least so we have an idea of the kind of makeup we'll get. Just remember, every class has the capability to do anything. It just depends on how you build. Everyone can do Single Target Damage or AoE Damage. Everyone Can control, everyone can "tank." Everyone can "buff/heal." So choose your flavor.

3. If you know for sure what race you want to be on your main, let me know, that way we can have some sort of plan. Now, part of their design philosophy, it's all about ease of cooperating, so ALL STARTER AREAS are available from the start, but you will be starting in our race area first. But having a list of races will help us know how important each area is.

Also, if you have any questions, let me know.

Guild Wars 2 and Team Fortress:

PC Gamer

quote:

The key to redesigning MMO classes, Peters argues, is looking outside the genre – at shooters. “No-one would tell you that everyone in Team Fortress just does damage,” he says. “No-one would say a Spy and a Heavy are the same because they both do damage – they’re very different playstyles. They have a very good sense of purpose.”
