I want to play monk
what I would like them to put into the game is utilization of protection monk skills
specifically:
quote:
Reversal of Fortune
Enchantment Spell. (8 seconds.) Converts the next incoming damage or life steal (maximum 15...67...80) to healing.
I understand "no monks", but I wish they had counter healing in the game.
aggression counters, versus just heal for HP
ie, cleanse DOTS- heals for x
Next attack converted to healing
Your next ability does 50% less dmg , but heals you for dmg not done
stuff like that versus just "press heal"

I think the took some of the more creative styles of play, and replaced that with dual skills. There are at least 8-10 guardian skills that Damage foes and heal allies. Symbols, the new RoJ, etc.

Since there are no true healing mechanic there's new true way to "counter" it. No scourge healing or reversal of fortune. I think reversal of fortune is in the game though, somehow, there's a skill like it somewhere.

See above. There are a lot of interesting healing effects though, just spread out among the classes.

Wheres the cynical "lolumad" fun in that?
Thats disappointing if WvWvW is the only pvp in the game.

There's standard PvPm too. And I'm sure GvG is down the road as well.
Plenty of "lolumad" moments to be had.

Yes. Multiple forms. They even have stealth or their downed state, which is awesome.
Stealth
Plus Shadow Stepping. More stealth options than GW1.

OMG...I had no idea about this stuff.
weird though:

Mesmers
Weapons
Two-handed
Greatsword — used as a ranged weapon
Staff — focuses on giving conditions to foes and boons to allies
Main-hand
Scepter — causes blind or confusion at range
Sword — focuses on melee-range attacks and character movement
Off-hand
Focus — offers offensive and defensive illusions
Pistol — offers thief-like dps and multi-target conditions
Sword — offers a defensive clone created by blocking and an offensive swordsman phantasm
Torch — gives user short invisiblity or confuses target
Aquatic
Spear — focuses on damage and manipulation of position
Trident[1] — damages and applies various conditions and boons
There are ten possible weapon sets for this profession and two while underwater. The mesmer can switch between two weapon sets while in combat.
quote:
Thief
Two-handed
Shortbow — ranged mobile weapon with AoE attacks and shadow step ability.
Main-hand
Sword — flanking sword attacks provide extra evasiveness and controls enemy movement.
Dagger — jump on a foe, attack quickly and inflict many conditions on them.
Pistol — ranged shots from pistol leave enemies vulnerable to following attacks.
Off-hand
Dagger — gives access to close range skills which allow quick escape by crippling the enemy or vanishing from sight.
Pistol — ranged weapon used to quickly retreat or to daze the target by a shot to the head or from a pistol whip.
Aquatic
Harpoon gun — bombard enemy with ranged attacks or pull them in, stab them and shadow step away.
Spear — rapid melee attacks spiced up with the usual thief tricks.
There are seven possible weapon sets for this profession and two weapon sets while underwater. The thief can switch between two weapon sets in combat.
who has the most weapon sets available? Seems the lower weapon sets will be more pigeon holed.

Well there's two ways to look at it:
If terms of strict WEAPON SETS: Warriors. Ranged and Melee. Everything but the Staff, Scepter, Focus, Torch and Dagger I think. They have the most dual wield options as well.
BUT
Weapons are really just a link to skills, so in terms of pure skills:
Engineers or Elementalists. With Thieves Running a Close third.
Engineers - Because they have skills that open more skills called "Kits." There's a grenade kit, mine kit, etc.
Elementalists - Eles cannot switch weapons on the fly/during fights. BUT with whatever weapon they have equipped, they can switch through 4 ATTUNEMENTS. So Eles always have more available skills than anyone else.
Thieves - Have initiative skills and lots of dependent skills, but so does everyone else.
Guardians - Elites that open up more skills, plus multiple Double-Action Skills.
Necros - Dark Fury opens up more skills
Rangers - Multiple Double Action Skills
Etc.

but in the thief:
quote:
Dual wield skills — available only to the thief profession, these weapon skills are determined by the combination of main-hand and off-hand weapons equipped. They generally use the highest amount of initiative.
Posted on 4/2/12 at 4:31 pm to Jahel

but in the thief:
A little complicated, but here we go:
Everyone DUAL WIELDS. Guardians can go Scepter/Focus, Sword/Torch, Mace/Shield. Or any combination of those. Elementalist can go Dagger/Dagger, Or Dagger/Focus. Necros can go Axe/Axe, Axe/Warhorn, etc. And so forth for every single class. And every class has at least 1 2-hand option.
So I repeat, Every class dual wields (and shields are considered a weapon). Your weapons (or weapon in the case of 2hand), determine your first 5 skills. They cannot be changed or moved.
So every class HAS to dual wield. That's how the game works.
So Your Skills 1-5 on your skill bar are determined by your weapons. Every guardian with a Sword/Shield combo has the same skills 1-5. There is no difference. Your primary hand determines your first 3 skills, your secondary hand determines your last 2 skills. This is important because....
HOWEVER:
quote:
Dual wield skills — available only to the thief profession, these weapon skills are determined by the combination of main-hand and off-hand weapons equipped. They generally use the highest amount of initiative.
DUAL WIELD SKILLS - Are different in that FOR THE THIEF ONLY, Your Primary Weapon determines your first 2 skills, your secondary weapon determines your last 2 skills.
The THIRD thief skill is determined by your weapon combinatio. That is the "Dual Wield Skill."
So, although ALL GUARDIANS who go Sword/X have the same first 3 skills, thieves have a different skill in slot 3 depending on their secondary, so slot 3, for thieves, is different for Sword/Dagger, Sword/Pistol, Sword/Sword. That is the "Dual Wield Skill."
Make sense?
This is also why thieves have slightly more options than other classes in terms of skills.
Most classes have something that gives them uniqueness in terms play style, other than just their overall skillset.
Eles - Attunement
Thieves - Initiative and Dual Wield Skills
Engineers - Kits
Mesmers - Clones
Guardians - Virtues
Necros - Dark Fury
Rangers - Pets No slotting needed like GW1

I only saw one video on this, so i may be wrong, but can you have as many pets on you as you want? I remember seeing a window with a list of all the tameable pets and I believe he said you could summon from it?
Off topic again,
My goal to getting points in hom now is Zkeys for the pvp statue. You only need 200 keys to get it, so im trading ectos for keys and grinding JQ and vanquishing at the same time for luxon rep and money. Got my heros where I need them to be, wanna join in?

how's this in PvP? In theory, yeah great, but who will actually attack the clone? I mean it's got to be exact.
The same with pets/minions, who ever attacks those and lets the character run free?

For rangers I believe you can only have 1 at a time. Necros can have up to like 5 I think.

I'll help, but I'm literally so close to 30 I can smell it:
1) Finish Gate of Madness with Bonus: +3 points for Protector and 5 Honor Statues
2) Get my necro to the Granite Citadel for Cheap Cabalist Armor +2 points for 5 Armor Statues
3) Grind 4 more hero armors. Those are rough, since I already went for the CoB's, I need the harder pieces now.
That's 30 for me. If you see me in game, shout and I'll help if I can.

According to some reports, the clones are perfect. Then Mesmers "Shatter" them to cause effects.
