Wife gave me a Garmin R-10 for my bday. For the money it looks like a pretty cool launch monitor. Not something to set up an indoor facility with, but looks like it coule be very helpful for range sessions.
Anyone have one? Feedback?

I’ve been eyeing one of these for a while now, particularly for backyard use, but then I read somewhere that it doesn’t work well with a net. But if you’re taking it to the range, it should do great. All the reviews I’ve seen say it’s loaded with features for the money, and the accuracy is pretty good. I’d be interested to hear your experience with it.

Edited to add: the device needs to be 7 feet behind the ball, and you need at least 8 feet between ball and net.

Have had one for a few weeks now on an indoor setup. Fits my needs pretty well so far. Inexpensive (compared to others), portable, provides plenty of shot data accurate enough for me.

Ball to screen is 9' and R10 to ball is 8'.

I recommend never going with the minimum required distance from ball to screen with any radar launch monitor. The minimum distance gives you the minimum accuracy, especially with spin. I'd try go get at least 10 ft or more if possible.

I have one…it’s worth every penny.

Do you use it as a simulator or just for the range?

It's an awesome device for the price. Just sold mine because I upgraded and it was collecting dust but I didn't want to.
You can find them used for $500. I would get one used since its a radar and no moving parts. Use a computer to upgrade the firmware.

I use as Sim and range. I really like the E6. I’ve only had it a few months now. I don’t have any issues so far.

Well, this makes my decision a little harder. Because of the apparently dubious info of it not working as well with a net or indoors, I was considering ponying up some more dough for a Skytrak box. But now…

To be clear, I use it indoors and with an impact screen. I haven’t tried using it hitting into a net.

I really like E6 as well. Are you using the 5 free courses or did you pay for more.? I’ve only been using the free ones but have been thinking about paying for the full package.

R10 - Used ~500
Pros: Cheap, portable, really accurate for a radar, HTH (amazing for $99. Has all local courses), free 6 courses on E6, Left and right hand hitters
Cons: Radar accuracy is poor with sidespin, Major issues with fans/heaters, Radar needs more room to read spin.
Skytrak - Used ~1400
Pros: Real side spin, cheapest camera on the market, Trusted product.
Cons: Higher chance of no reads, small hitting space, Just got bought out by Golftek so who knows whats going to happen to the product, poor board design so wifi is best.
GC2 - Used ~3000
Pros: Best accuracy you can buy, Trusted product, No subscription model, upgrade later to head tracking (3.4k).
Cons: Major repairs will cost more, harder to putt due to sensitivity, older device vs GC3/BLP.
TGC2019 / E6 / GSPro
TGC has a lot of courses but a lot are trash, Not much updating going on, ball flies straighter due to their algorithm.
E6 poor physics and each course cost $$. a la carte. Old and out dated.
GSPro updating often, new courses almost daily, best physics and algorithm that's balanced across all devices, putting debatable useful, growing community with leagues and payed tournaments, Direct access to the devs
Hitting matt:
EZ Tee - Best overall. Not too hard and not too soft.
CCE - Very popular but overall too hard.
Fiberbuilt Insert - Some say too soft and ball does not release normal.

Nice info there.
I will add Holy Grail hitting strip to your list of mats. Have played about 10 rounds on mine and it is great. Punishes for fat strikes but doesn’t hurt wrists or elbows.

I’ve only used the free E6 courses.
