Got a driver fitting from Leitz a while back. I really liked it and would obviously recommend him. He put me in an XS stock shaft and gave a good explanation on why the average amateur doesn't need a high end expensive shaft.

Get to TCC early (at least 30 mins) prior to your fitting so you can hit on the range to loosen up.

If I want to make this “as close to the course as possible” for my fitting, I’ll roll out there 5 minutes before, rip a few drivers on the range as hard as possible, then head to the fitting with a few cold ones

I mean, this isn't necessarily wrong. Once you dial in weight, flex, and profile, the rest is just personal preference. Most club fitting carts have enough offerings to help you good numbers vs just buying off the rack.

I think for most people, "Getting fit" just takes the guess work out of it. With standard lofts, I've always gone by having the RPMs be the number on the iron x1k. 7iron - 7k RPM etc.

I got ‘fitted’ and was not impressed. Hit them great off a mat and ordered the clubs. Now that I have put them in play I feel like I hit half of them solid.

I found a shaft I like and try to buy irons with those shafts in it. The shaft is the biggest part with irons, IMO. Driver heads can be important due to some adding spin, loft, draw/fade bias, etc. But with irons and wedges, find a shaft profile you like and the heads are all personal preference and may vary within a few yards.

There are exceptions to this.

Swing weight seems to be something that is overlooked, and is hard to match with off the rack offerings when puttting together a bag

Ian Frasier from TXG (look up their equipment videos on YouTube) recommended Leitz to me when I asked him if he knew of anyone in the area who I should get fit from.

How do they account for swing weight when using clubs with interchangeable heads? The screw contraption has to add weight.

Ok, just wrapped up. To be honest it ended up being more a lesson than a driver fitting which I’m completely happy with

So, for details, I’m a 13.7 handicap. Never had a lesson and only within the last few months have I started playing consistently. But formally being a college tennis player, I would say golf comes a little “easier” for us for whatever reason.

Ok to today

Right when I get in there, he can see my average club head speed is 106 and my driver only carries about 210 and fades hard right rolling out to only like 220. Which completely mimics what my course numbers are. So those numbers in distance don’t add up

He changed my grip to be a lot stronger, and my next 10 drives average 252 carry with 270 rollout or so

At this point I honestly don’t give a shite about getting a new club :

So we tinkered a little bit re after that and hit some 7 irons and those numbers went from 144 average carry to 159 average carry as well

So needless to say I’m very pleased with how everything went even though it didn’t really feel like a fitting. I only actually hit one new driver. Never changed shafts or club heads or anything

He said he knew right away what type of shaft and club head etc I needed, and brand didn’t really matter

So I could see some people not liking this, as ylu aren’t really hitting a ton of different clubs and shafts, but I came away very happy. He made everything very easy and relateable

So basically with 106 club speed my ball should be going waaaay further than 220 yards. I’ve always felt on the course I swing harder than people that out drive me

Basically I had a week grip which caused my club face to be open, so my ball was always a weak fading right ball flight. I always just managed it with alignment

So he immediately strengthened my grip by rolling my left hand to where I can see a lot more knuckles now. Google strong golf grip and you can see it

Immediately my ball starts drawing and pick up 40 yards of carry

Yep, I made this switch 2 years ago. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

That actually takes some work...to swing that "quick" and hit it that short.

My ball flight basically travels 55 yards left to right as well
