Anyone have any suggestions for something to mix with coke or in an old fashioned?

My suggestion is to give up looking. I quit drinking last year, and the biggest thing I miss is bourbon. There are enough good NA beers out there to give you options that are actually pretty damn good. Spirits, on the other hand, are a different story. I've yet to try a NA whiskey that tasted like anything other than tea with cayenne pepper added.

Got a few 9 irons masquerading as PWs around this thread.

Tell me about it. I don't worry too much about the number on the bottom of the club, but rather that it goes the same distance for me when I need it. My Elyte set is stamped 6 iron through A wedge, but I know damn well it's really just a 5 iron through pitching wedge if you go by lofts. Either way, I need 3 other wedges after the 47° wedge in the set, so I have 2 "gap" wedges.

If I needed more clubs at the top of the bag, I might consider going with a 53 and 58 setup, but I like the options I have with the grinds in my current set, with a high bounce sand wedge and a low bounce lob wedge while maintaining a neutral bounce weak gap wedge after that set A wedge. And I don't need any room at the top of the bag since I go hybrid then 7 wood after the "6 iron".

Callaway Elyte irons with the stock PW (42°) and AW (47°).

From there, I have Callaway Opus wedges. 50° (S grind) bent to 51°, then 56° (W grind) and 60° (C grind).

Has anyone played Pelican lately?

Played Pelican Lakes course yesterday. Greens are in good shape as usual. Haven't played the 18 hole course with the new greens in a bit, but I've heard nothing but good things.

As someone who's quit drinking recently, I cannot understand how anyone with experience from both alcohol and THC, how you could think for one minute Marijuana is worse than alcohol.

As someone who's also quit drinking recently, this is 100% on point. And it's not even close, IMO.

Holy crap! Weren't you a big time home brewer about 10 years or so ago?

Yep. Alcohol began to control my life, rather than the other way around. So I gave it up for good. Down over 50 pounds, liver enzymes are finally healthy, I've got so much more energy and feel so much better. There are some good NA beer options, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss bourbon.

The good thing about light beer is that if it’s cold it can’t have that much flavor, even if the flavor is bad.

How bad was it?

I don't drink anymore, but when I did, I tried it a few times. It tasted like corn, particularly as it warmed up.

I remember when I used X flex shafts , sometimes tipped.

I'm 49 years old and just started using these X flex shafts. Driver and mini driver shafts are tipped as well. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be using X flex. But here I am. Dispersion is so much better for me, and I'm gaining distance as I get older.

Now, I have lost almost 50 pounds since this time last year and my swing speed has improved somewhat. But still, I don't fit the profile of "tipped X flex" guy. Not gonna argue with the results, however.
I'm set. Not playing as much now and thus not tinkering with setup.

Callaway Ai Smoke TD Max 10.5° Ventus Velocore Black 6X
Callaway Ai Smoke Mini Driver 13.5° Ventus Velocore+ Blue 6X
Callaway Ai Smoke 7 Wood Ventus Velocore Red TR 7X
Callaway Ai Smoke 4 Hybrid Project X Cypher Black 2.0 70X
Callaway Elyte 6-GW True Temper Vector 90S
Callaway Opus 50° 10S, 56° 14W, 60° 6T
Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 1.5 Prototype
Titleist 2025 ProV1X
Ping Hoofer Lite

I have several other Scotty putters I rotate in based on how I'm feeling and what I want to look down at. Different toe hangs, etc.

re: Best classic club in BR

City Pork has a delicious club.
Yes, I've bought the membership the last two years. Worth it? Probably not. But I spend much more on stuff I enjoy much less, so...

I have not used but understand that the owner or original owner has moved away from BTR.

Think he's in South Carolina now, but I saw him over the holidays in BR. I used to use them at my old house and they did a good job. It was definitely worth the $100 I paid them to aerate my lawn. I probably couldn't rent the machine for that.
Had Two Brothers in BR remove the old driveway that had been busted up by tree roots and pour a new one back in November. We were happy with the job they did.
Keep us updated. My girlfriend's koi keep disappearing, but we can't figure out the culprit. There were 14 prior to Thanksgiving. There are 4 left. Was thinking either bird or raccoons. Noticed some potted plants tipped over a couple mornings, which makes me suspect raccoon.
City Park is the answer. This is where I brought my daughters when they wanted to learn. 9 holes. Not a long course. Fun to drive the cart up and down the hills.

It's really sad how bad Louisiana is when it comes to public golf. I can't think of a worse state in the southeast for public golf. I mean, MAYBE Arkansas but thats the only one that comes close.

Thanks for your input. You really helped the OP with that. Congrats!

Went for the comedy show on NYE. I don't know how many tickets were sold, but there were only a couple dozen people there, so not too crowded and not much of a line for drinks. Cool atmosphere and we had a blast. But I understand we went for a ticketed event, so it was probably different than on other nights.

Second this comment after playing today. Greens were rolling the fastest I've seen since they reopened.

re: Ventus shaft users question

Posted by BMoney on 12/22/25 at 9:12 am to
Based on my swing speed of around 100-105mph, I should have no business playing the Ventus Black 6X tipped an inch. Yet, I have never driven the ball better than I have using that shaft. Dispersion is fantastic, and I've hitting the ball farther than I ever have.

Got a Blue 6X in the + model in my mini driver that is my "safe" driver. It's spinnier, but some of that is also due to the loft.

Red 7X in the TR model in my 7 wood and I love that club.

I have zero idea what other shafts are available and really don't pay attention any more.
Was gonna mention using the Red Lobster biscuit mix, but you bean me to it.
