Played it today (hot as hell...but a $14 green fee with cart was worth it). Nice facility, course layout, maintained (greens slow with them just getting punched and top dressed). If I lived in the area, I would frequent the Beav over Santa Maria and the Bluffs. Enjoyed my round and would go and play it again when I am in town.

It’s probably in the best shape but it’s also probably the most boring to play. Excellent public course because of those two. So they’re not really negatives.

Not a hot take. Best conditioning of any of the public courses in BR.

lsu13lsu will be along shortly to tell us how BREC has ruined public golf in Baton Rouge just like he shits on every other thread about public courses here.

Not turning this thread into a shiteshow. I am glad it is in great shape. All I ask is for them to put out a quality product or let private companies do it. RIP all the private companies.

Beaver Creek and Copper Mill are both in great shape right now. It's worth the drive to Zachary for either

For Baton Rouge public golf to get better it took courses closing. LSU has been and is basically still closed. The Island is closed. Westside is closed.

Hate on me all you want but I am finally excited for BR public golf. When Dumas closes Baton Rouge golf will be perfect.

The golf market here is finally right. Look at how many courses are in good shape right now and full of golfers. That is how it is supposed to be. Sadly it took courses closing which I have always said.

Copper Mill

Is it in great shape or great shape for CM?

I always loved that course. The 6/6/6 idea is fun. I like starting off with #1 par 5, easy birdie opportunity.

Or a pandemic where the only thing to do is go outside and the only thing open are golf courses. But yea, closing courses is the only thing that's caused this.

Course conditioning wise, yes it is. The superintendent out there is doing a fine job.

A pandemic and courses closing has made BR golf very nice. I am liking the direction we are heading. The pandemic will end though. So if BREC is only doing good bc of that then good luck. But I am telling you guys the bigger tailwind is less supply. Demand and supply are finally aligning.

I am happy Beaver Creek is great. I am happy for BR public golfers.

I have no issue with BREC golf and I think they've been trending upwards in course maintenance over the years.

I think BR is one of the few markets where private and municipal courses can thrive. CM shot themselves in the foot by selling the range. The Island shot themselves in the foot by picking Ibverville. If youre going to blame BREC for private courses making shitty business decisions, then nothing will change your mind.

BREC's own study said there was too much golf in Baton Rouge. I agree with BREC.

Now that courses are closing we are seeing the fruits of that and conditions are really taking off. It is amazing what Superintendents can do when they have steady and consistent revenue.

You said you weren't going to turn this thread into a shite show. Get off your soapbox and move along. Either say you think beaver is the best public course in the area, or say you don't think that and provide your alternative opinion. Nothing more.

It is hands down best public course in area and I am happy about it. They had the fairways cut looking like a baseball field with the stripes when I went out there.

Get Webb in Beaver Creeks shape and Baton Rouge golf is perfect.

Greystone's greens are as bad as I've ever seen them. They need to lower their rates until they improve

last time I played Beaver it was in great shape, but the greens are still a bit slow and it's one of the most boring golf courses I've ever played. So depending on how you value layout, condition, amenities I could see people making an argument for other courses.

It's the same tired shite every time a thread pops up about public courses in the BR area.
