High Meadow Ranch is an awesome course! My dad lives right down the road from it we play every time I visit.

What are the thoughts on Augusta Pines? Thinking about joining as a member. They have a pretty good deal going and seems like every decent course in the Woodlands area is private.

It’s a beautiful course and property. I’ve only played it a handful of times and it has gotten the better of me most those times. My dad doesn’t like to go anywhere but High Meadow Ranch. I think that’s just because he doesn’t like leaving Magnolia to go to Spring. As far the courses go I personally like High Meadow better.

I play about once a month. Augusta Pines condition is nowhere near the condition of Gleannloch Pines which is owned by the same person. It’s a good layout but they need to get the course in better shape. I think Augusta Pines got a bunch of new members from the Woodlands Country club when they raised their prices. So I think weekend morning tee times are hard to get but not sure. But members at Augusta can play Gleannloch for no charge.

My neighbor played Augusta Pines last month and said it was in awful condition.

I’ll check it out this weekend. Thanks for the tip. I’m actually new in Magnolia. Been playing a ‘hidden gem’ Grand Lake Estates. Looking for a course to join tho.

I played High Meadow yesterday. Greens have recently been punched, prob. a week or so ago, so they were slow. (relative to what their speeds usually are) They were also a little bumpy, but should recover pretty quick, especially if we get some rain the next couple of days. HMR is one of the best Houston area courses, and is always in great shape. The greens always roll fast, and true, but you do not want to be above the holes, on most of the greens. If you are, it can make for some "fun" putts. You will like the layout as well.

August Pines over seeded their fairways, during the "winter", about 4 years ago. Once they did that, the course has not been the same. They literally lost every single fairway the following year on the course, and has seemed to struggle to get it back into prior condition. As stated earlier, GP has been in fantastic shape for years. A lot of AP members have chosen to play at GP instead.

When Augusta Pines first opened it was great.

A buddy of mine has his office there in the adjoining suites and we played there a lot.

Use to have great Oilfield Golf Tournaments there with past NFL greats.

He told me that there use to be some wild locker room cards games at night that got way out of control involving a waitress...

If your willing to make the drive, it doesn't get much better in the Houston area.

They have some of the best tournaments around.

Out in Houston to see a friend. Ae played Cypresswood Traditions yesterday and the greens were stellar. Overall course was in great shape save a few tee boxes. The issue we had was the 8 min spacing of tee times leading to course backup and us waiting for around 2-5 min on every single tee shot and approach shot. Was no way to ever get in a rhythm.

Today, we hit golf club of Houston which is an excellent facility. They did have a tourney going on with pin setups essentially 3-5 paces off the edge on every single damn green. That said, course was in top shape and we had amazing pace not having to wait to hit a single time and never had anyone waiting on us.

I played Gus Worthem yesterday and it’s in great shape. My partners were saying that the rain in the last couple of weeks really help fill out the fairways.

Did yall get held up heavily after #11? Last time I was there, they had a marshal rushing everyone on the #12 tee

We went to #1 tee on time and there was a 3 some of bad golfers playing a 3 man scramble. We literally waited every GD hole. Was super annoying. It was so slow that after hole 9 I literally drove the girl I was playing with to the restrooms by the abandoned structure so she could go.

She told me she would walk all the way back so I could just tee off. She walked back (not even a fast walk or jog) and once she got back I still had to wait for 5 min to tee off.

Horrible.
