“The PIF didn’t view team golf as competitive with the PGA TOUR”

This contradicts everything Greg Norman said. His entire campaign was built on “bringing free agency” to golf.

You can see it in Jon Rahm’s dead eyes how much he regrets taking the money to play in this clown show league
You don’t think Rahm is happy to fly around the world to Korea two weeks before a major?

This. I watch both but would rather see a leaderboard that doesn't consist of Joe Dunlap from Topeka.

At least his buddies in Scottsdale can watch him at 2:00 am local time on FS1 now.

They’re talking with OWGR about changing LIV’s format in order to get approval. It sounds like this will eventually happen & you will be wrong again

I thought for sure that Pride would have brought up Immelman's comments in this thread.

Sportico reported earlier this week that LIV Golf and the OWGR were in “serious discussions,” which Immelman found to be “an interesting choice of words.”

“They have not put any application in. Whether that happens or not, I guess time will tell,” Immelman said in a telephone interview.

“I have enjoyed getting to know Scott O’Neil over the last few months,” he said. “We’ve spoken on the phone a couple of times. We met in person at the Masters, just really introduction stuff. We’re in the same position we have been without any application from their side.

I said that on page one, they don’t have an application. This board could do well to simply listen to me and block out outside noise

LIv fans have too much emotion based thinking

You just assume they’re on LIV? LIV stole players who were top talent 4 years ago. From what I’ve seen/heard (BDC excepted) those guys have regressed.

You just can’t accept the fact that LIV has failed in its mission. It’s not a factor. Its players are irrelevant and sliding into mediocrity. It didn’t “fundamentally transform golf” or even “grow the game”. It’s a nonfactor. Regardless of how much you hate Jay, the PGA has rolled on and remains THE dominant factor in pro golf. I hope they get back together, but no one (aside from you) misses the LIV players. They’ve been replaced. Even if by less talented performers. No one gives a shite if any LIV players show up. If they did, more of them would get invites to the majors.

But kudos to you for your devotion. You’re bot -like in your effort to tote the LIV torch.

You must not watch very often, because the majority of PGA events are dominated by names at the top of the talent pack. If you’re into players from years past, try the Champions Tour.

You just sound uninformed & unqualified to have an opinion about this. You must get your talking points from Chambles.

Simply not true, LIV has 3-4 top 10 guys in the world playing on their tour. There are multiple guys I could use to prove they haven’t “regressed”, but let’s use Lucas Herbert - yeah, who the frick is that guy?

OWGR top 50 player in 2021, playing well on LIV this year & is… guess what… currently top 50 on datagolf. Oh & he’s 29 years old so lol at the “Champions Tour”

Anyways, let’s not get off topic. Here’s some more info on the OWGR-LIV discussions

LINK

quote:

The LIV Golf League is strongly considering a change to its existing format that will require all players who fall into its “relegation zone” to play a qualifying event to earn their spot back, even if they are one of the team captains. The move is viewed as a way to appeal to the Official World Golf Ranking, which previously denied an application for accreditation, citing playing pathways to the league as well as player turnover and field variance between events as being reasons that LIV’s format doesn’t work.

“I’ve said this many times; the only reason why we're not trying to figure out OWGR and LIV is because LIV no longer pursued it,” USGA CEO Mike Whan told Sports Illustrated’s John Schwarb at Oakmont Country Club during a media opportunity in advance of next month’s U.S. Open. Whan has one of the seven OWGR board seats.

It is unclear if LIV Golf is going to make other changes that will appease the OWGR or the ranking body is willing to forego them in order to include LIV players.

A meeting of the OWGR board is scheduled for the British Open at Royal Portrush in July and indications are that LIV will attempt to have a new application ready by then.
