The old Taylormade Spider Tour, red, small slant neck. 34" with the pistol GTR 1.0 grip. I've tried many newer putters to replace it but can't take it out the bag. It's a machine.
Putters are all about how it looks and feels to the person hitting it. What feels right for me may be way off for you. Best thing to do is go somewhere with lots of demos and a putting green and just try a bunch of styles out to see what feels best. then you can always go find a used version online for cheaper of the one you liked.

I was gifted a Spider and didn’t think I would ever get used to it at first.
A few months later I got used to it and now I love the thing.

You trying to buy new?
I roll an Edel and it’s one of the putters I’ve owned where I feel like it’s helped me out a lot. His torque balanced face makes a lot of sense. Can be had in primo condition for not too much on eBay/golfwrx

Nothing beats the confidence of a new putter.

I agree, I picked up a new Spider SR and made a bunch of putts Monday with it.
Hope the honeymoon lasts .

I agree. Someone in California is gonna be happy in a few days when they get their Olson. I'm sad on the inside.
My bank account is happy today though.

I purchased a new Odyssey about six months ago but went back to a knockoff mallett I purchased in 1997. IMO putters is one of those things that is pure feel and psychology. For me, the fact that the head of the old putter is heavier than the Odyssey make my putting more consistient. It also makes for a good story that I'm using a putter I purchased in 1997. I could probably find another new putter with a heavier head that would serve my needs, but I'd like to be decent at golf again before I do that. I actually carry both putters in my bag, which is technically illegal (# of clubs). The old putter also has the square-ish grip that I prefer as well.

I agree that a putter is all feel and confidence . . . It is a relatively flat face that is not subject to much advances in technology. Sure, you can weight them differently or have different milling or inserts, but they are still just flat faces that get a ball rolling so it’s all about what suits the player’s eye, feels good and gives them confidence.
I am still gaming an Odyssey TriHot putter #1 putter that was released back when K.J. Choi was winning on the PGA Tour. I bought it used on Ebay for $50 about 12 years ago, slapped a new grip on it and will probably never get rid of it. I am a certified club ho so i have bought and sold (or rent them as I tell the wife) several Scotty Cameron putters and other high end putters over the years. Heck, I’ve even done a custom designed Nead putter and a Lajosi putter during that time, but the old Odyssey keeps making its way back into the bag.
To the OP, find the style you like that suits your eye and, assuming it matches your putting stroke, go search on ebay for some older models in good shape. Slap a new grip on the thing and experiment. For the same amount of money, you can do 3 or 4 putters to find what you like. You won’t get the fancy head covers like you get with a new putter, but do you really need it?
Good luck.

Just spend the money on a Scotty, you’ll never need another putter. I’ve had mine 20 years and even though I’ve bought other putters since then, including the 2-ball Odyssey like you have, but I keep coming back to my Scotty.
