Old Lofts / New Lofts / Quality Control

Still the longest irons that I ever owned were the original model of the Lynx Parallax Black Oxide.
It was a long blade cavity back iron that had "Hot Spots" all over the face.
Depending on where you hit it on the face, you could gain well over 10 yards plus and just leaving you shaking your head.
The original Ping Eye 2's and the Tommy Armour 845's has some hot spots but the were not as dramatic as the Lynx.
The second generation Lynx Parallax that Couples and Els played didn't have the hot spots.
Today's quality control and A.I. software have eliminated the hot spots.
I don't get caught up in Lofts to much with today's clubs because there are other factors that control flight, spin ,etc...

I just switched from some blades to the jpx921 forged. Still figuring out the distances a little bit. Obviously the lofts are stronger but it’s also much easier to to find the center of the face and mishits go pretty much the distance they were supposed to instead of 20 yards short. I also noticed they jump out of the rough a lot more which is hard for me to figure out so far. I hit an 8 iron about 195 out of the rough the other day when I needed about 170. I still haven’t been able to convince myself I should have been hitting a 9 iron or maybe even a PW from that distance

That's the downside to catching a flyer with a 35* 8 iron lol. The Hot Metals have a 34* 8 iron. I wish they would leave the Tours & Forged with traditional lofts

I think the tours are traditional lofts. I was debating between the tours and the forged and I found these for a good deal on eBay

Yeah the Tours are 46* PW and 4 degrees down to a 30* 6 iron. 5 iron is 27*. I had the 919 Tours and they were super smooth
