Divot had water accumulated.

Doesn’t look like water in the divot from the video shown. It appears you had to stand on the ground to get water to come up.

I’m no rules official but I think it was a good ruling.

Again, I’ll ask you to stand by your original claim in this thread…If I take my stance, and water becomes present, I do not get relief? Is that correct in what you’re suggesting?

No, it’s not.

The second both feet are on ground if you see water or bubbles it is temporary water.

That’s not correct.

Please explain, I’m interested. Again, if I take a stance, water appears, how is that not considered casual water? How exactly do they determine casual water from a stance then if I might add?

It was a bad break but he could have and should have gotten up and down.

He imploded everywhere on the back 9. Tough break but that didn’t cost him the tourney.

JJ had a ton of bad breaks today.

I am. And I believe it is bad ruling. Terrible in fact.

If you are standing in water then you get relief. You can not use your feet to “make” water appear. If you have to do that to draw water to the surface, you are not entitled to free relief.

A lot of guys from the “pga” are wrong man. It’s not the end of the world. Wouldn’t you rather know what the rules actually are and how they can be used to your advantage if it ever came up? I don’t know what Sam’s ball looked like, it’s entirely possible he shouldn’t have gotten relief, but what you’re saying here is 100% not the rule. If I were you I’d want to know, vs what I’ve been told. It may be beneficial at some point is all I’m saying

You’re entitled to your opinion. I highly doubt you are a very good official if you disagree with two USGA guys on this particular ruling.

Sorry, I got the quote wrong. I knew you had the correct answer. Wasn’t my argument. My apologies

Well you don’t “make” water appear, it’s actually already there. Hence the name “casual or temporary” water. It’s there already, just need a spot I can drop it a couple feet away and play the shot is all.

Horrible ruling in fairway with no relief from water.

I missed that, because after 11 and 12 I went to shite and shower because I was heading somewhere. But where I felt he started to actually lose it, was on 11 i think. he hits 3w middle/right of the fairway and it rolls and rolls and rolls and rolls, ok, fine, it rolls off the fairway into the 1st cut........oh btw, its in the forward position of a divot. he made good contact but then flew that shot into the sand or deep stuff by the green, then overshot the green. that drive that ended up in the divot is where you can see him starting to unravel. then of course 15 happened on top of that.
