I can see them going to all plastic cups next year just to protect the greens. I thought it was an awesome show. It got a little old on Sunday when they tossed their beers for the JT chip in. Saturday felt more authentic just because there was some pent up excitement.

The 16th hole has become a victim of its own success. It’s not just the golfers at risk as there are other fans, camera crews, plungers and other “inside the ropes” folks. The atmosphere is great and they should be proud of the uniqueness of the hole with the boisterous fans, but throwing beer bottles/cans down upon people is completely without purpose.
The loud roar of the fans is what the player wants … have that roar sustained for 3 minutes is all TV needs … the delay from picking up trash is not what anyone wants to see. Not sure how you curtail it other than posting that trash thrown on the course will result in alcohol sales being discontinued at the 16th hole (make it inconvenient for the fans to get drinks and maybe they won’t waste them).
