I'm not disagreeing with you on the fact that playing through is a lost plesantry in the golf world.
I'm speaking from expreience in the golf industry that 4 hours is the bench mark that a round "Should" be played at by any person on the course. Open holes in front of a 4some is not and should not be the precedent.
If Makers club designates holes open as the method for pace of play i cannot argue that. If the group in front is playing at an exceptionally fast pace a group playing at a very resonable pace (4 hours) should not be penalized by the group in front.

I picked up the clubs after not playing for 15 years
Same and I have been having a blast. I’ve finally started to see some improvement these last few months with consistent birdie and par tries. I’m still working on my chipping and I am fricking horrible in the sand but it’s been a good bright spot in a year filled with shite.

National Golf Foundations numbers say golf is booming bigger than Tiger Era!! If the weather is good, we are busy every day, it's crazy.
