The PGA Tour better hope this merger goes through or they are a gone pecan. Now that the players who have been loyal now know how much money there is on the dark side - and that all the money that Jay miraculously freed up for them for the selected events may not actually be there after sponsors started balking. And Jay and the other "muh blood money!!!" hand-wringers can't play that card anymore to guilt guys into staying with the PGA. The moment Jay dove into the deep end of the blood money pool headfirst to secure his own future just shite that hypocritical stance away. What's gonna keep players from going to LIV en masse once it's official the deal isn't happening?
No one wants to be the last sucker standing around with Rory turning the lights out of the PGA building after everyone else has split.

Probably OWGR points. Their system is broken as-is, but it’s the last thing the PGA has going for them. Wouldn’t be as big of an issue for the higher ranked players with exemptions though i.e. Jon Rahm, Hideki, etc

OWGR has been reviewing their application over a year now.

In what world is Dustin Johnson, Dechambeau, Abraham Ancer, Gooch, Kokrak, etc outside the top 50?
A year ago Oosthuizen was #25 & he’s currently 366.

The non-poaching agreement is now officially over as LIV can once again poach PGA players

Rory is now saying he will retire if he has to play for Saudis.

Did you just ask in what world Jason Kokrak isn’t in the top 50?

Could probably apply the same thing to Abraham Ancer as well.

All of those listed are obviously top 50 players.

Instead DJ is 77
Ancer is 65
Dechambeau is 100
Kokrak is 180
Oosthuizen is 366

I’m sure you think Nick Taylor is a world class golfer though

He's good, not world class. Using Data Golf, he's similar to Ancer and Kokrak right now.

Maybe if they were playing 4 round tourneys on the PGA Tour they would be playing the way they used to.

Kokrak has 3 top tens in all of his events since November of 2021.

So it’s ridiculous that I claim those two are top 50, but they’re similar to the #46 ranked golfer

& yet he was ranked #31 in the world this time last year

So it seems like you don’t know as much about how the OWGR works. It’s based on a 2 year points system. Kokrak had 3 wins in fall 2020-fall 2021. He also had to 10s at the API and Players. So those would have still counted in his points at this time last year.

He has not been playing as good of golf. If you want to make the argument that Talor Gooch not being in the top 50 is dumb, I’ll agree with you on that one. But just because someone goes to LIV, it doesn’t mean their level of golf automatically stays where it was beforehand.

Sure, but the rankings as-is are not accurate. Kokrak is not the 180th best golfer in the world. Like you said, Datagolf places him closer to the top 50 with Nick Taylor.

Regardless of the PGA-LIV merger, hopefully OWGR figures out how to handle LIV soon. There are about 5 LIV golfers that are missing out on The Open bc of it
