Did our annual trip to Kiawah and though it was different this year with Covid - that place is spectacular! My girls golfer 4 days down there and the best kept secret is how low the junior fees at the resort. They played the Ocean Course on Wednesday and the service was incredible and the caddy was terrific - my 11 year old played at 5700 yards and once the caddy gave her an alignment fix she pared 8 of the last 9 and just missed two birdie putts... My 9 year played about 4650 and played very well too - beating the older sister with a birdie on 17 and par on 18

Kiawah

If you get a chance to play there - DO IT!

We had a trip planned at the end of March. Thanks Covid. My buddy went a few weeks ago and said it was good, but that all the pro/golf shops were closed. He also said he expected the greens to be much much faster.

Greens can’t be more than an 8... it’s some sort of POA mix it seemed

We had 50 mph gusts when I played. Caddy told us the greens at the Ocean Course can’t be much faster than they are for that reason.

I played it in February with the golf and gourmet package. 2 night stay, 2 ocean rounds, a round at osprey point for $550. The ocean is a spectacular course. In the winter, the greens were primo and very nice speed.

They use a grass called Platinum Paspalum. From what I remember, it's very tolerant to high salt concentrations that they get being so close to the ocean.

That's a hell of a deal.

Best deal in golf. They do it every year. This was staying in the "villas" instead of the hotel. Not amazing rooms, but more than serviceable

My group played it last year as the warmup for Augusta.

We did Ocean, Osprey and Turtle - good times. Ocean is phenomenal.

We were scheduled to hit Myrtle this year, but well...you know.

Other than Ocean, what are the best courses to hit up in Kiawah and surrounding Charleston area? Can get in one round in addition to Ocean, and was wondering best choice?

Another Kiawah course or something like Charleston National? Was going to play Wild Dunes, but it's closed because of Covid.

I’ve read and heard a lot of great things about Stono Ferry near Charleston. Was gunna play there in September last year but TS Dorian ruined that for me

What’s green fee of ocean course if not staying on property?

We are playing two courses on the day we play the Ocean, with the Ocean getting the replay rate as the second course. Actually cheaper to do it that way than just playing the Ocean by itself.
