Yet people still think 27 putts with no context is a good round.

Strokes gained or not, under 30 putts is still a good barometer

They all know exactly where they rank off the tee, approach, on and around the greens though.

This is the only thing I agree with you in all your ranting. While I too have some connections to players, I wouldn't say they are all focused on stats. They look at their stats and then figure out a plan to get better. I disagree with you that a player is sitting there saying "if I make 4 on this hole I gain .5 on the field" because I have caddied for a handful of these guys and that is not how any of them approached the hole.
In all honesty, none of them give two shits about the field rather playing/hitting their best shot to score the lowest every shot. They all know 13 at Augusta is gettable and likely plays below par over the tournament but as others have said, what happens if the winds shift and all of a sudden the second shot is dead into the wind? None of these players are then thinking to themselves, oh wait now how do I compare to the field - they pivot to think of how to best make par.

I can't believe I wasted this much time to even chime into this rant of yours but to say that these guys are focused on their stats to this level is a bit ridiculous.

Absolutely not true, if you know a par 5 is playing 4.2 and you make par, you know you lost stokes to the field.

Deleted.

ETA: I regretted even posting anything in this thread.

We have also rode on better Disney rides because we aren’t 4 feet tall.

You seriously don't know that TDTOM is David Toms and Front9 is Andrew "Beef" Johnston?

You've never heard of a course that hosted the Byron Nelson for the last 3 or 4 years?

I've played Colonial twice. Is that an acceptable substitute?

Yeah, very nice course. I'm going to a wedding there in a couple weeks.
