I will have to say this is a weird hill you’ve chosen to die on but this shite right here is next level. What does what the announcers say have to do with anything at all? Par isn’t good there because they could’ve been one shot lower on their total score not because they lost .4 to the field. Of course they can use it to see where they lost shots after a tournament but they do not give a flying frick about it during competition.

They play one shot at a time. They follow their plan and they don’t worry about what the field is doing. They will start watching the leader board on Sunday and then they might change their strategy depending on the situation. To think that on Friday a player is going to worry about parting 13 after a poor drive is crazy. He forgets about the bad drive and plays the next shot as best he can and doesn’t try to reverse what has already happened unless of course it’s Sunday and he needs to play catch up.
