Friend of mine played the ProV1 her entire junior career. When she went pro, she received a case of golf balls including a 7 figure check/contract to play the ball. She clearly took it because Titleist didn't match or wasn't in same ballpark. Her game suffered for a few years until she got her comfort level back.

For those thinking "who," the golf balls were pink.

I wonder if you realize how much of a douche you just sounded with this drop. Literally no one asked who but you felt the need to give us an obvious hint

I’ll make one point about the distances based on a numbered iron... My 7 iron is 33°. The Callaway Mavrik 7i is 27°.

Just ran a comparison between my current irons (Cleveland TA2) and the TM P790 irons I want. The TM 7 iron is 4 degrees stronger, which makes it about a club longer than what I currently play. That means, on average, I'd hit the TM 7 iron about 180.

Current swing speed is about 107-110. I play the Bridgestone TourB X as well.

My 7iron is 34 degrees. I’m not a long hitter by any means and I carry it around 165/170. My buddy loves to rub in my face he hits his 7 180 but the damn thing is lofted like my 5 iron.

I was looking at the jpx 919 forged loft vs my AP1. The AP1’s are about 2 degrees stronger for each club. Any idea what kind of yardage that would translate to? 5 yards shorter with the jpx?

I’d say 5-7 yards.

Good stuff. I knew the AP1’s are cranked up, but didn’t realize how much.

I am thinking about switching from Chromesoft
Do that yesterday. Chromesoft is the worst of the “premium” balls and don’t go anywhere.

I just got back into the game six weeks ago after 10 years off (one good thing about this quarantine). And I just purchased two dozen chromesoft yesterday, haha. So, of course, after reading this I purchased two dozen bridgestone tour b x.

i swear, getting back into the game after 10 years off (avg. around 90 before my hiatus) is really strange. I feel as if I have no muscle memory, so I'm rebuilding my swing from scratch. I have a tendency to hit the ball on the hovel, so I also have to trick myself into pretending the ball is an inch closer to me than it really is. For some crazy reason, it works. Finally broke 100 on Sunday. The real trick of all this is trying to convince the wife that this is good for me.

I play the Titleist AVX. Had a lesson the other day and was between 105-110 mph with my 7 iron, hitting it just under 200.

With that being said, I would give up 10 yards per club for 10% more accuracy three times over

So you’re getting 30-40 yards of rollout with a 7 iron

You should at least do some research before you straight up lie, carry distance for a 7 iron with 110mph swing speed is ~169 yards LINK

You need to learn how to spin your 7 iron so you don’t have to land it 30 yards short and try to roll it on

Honestly, I don't know enough about what those numbers mean to care. I 'm pretty average at golf and take no pride in hitting the ball far.

The guy had something measuring my swing speed and tracking the ball and that's what he said

Did a little research and found this calculator: LINK

It looks like what I said isn't completely outrageous but I wouldn't be shocked if it was a little wrong.

What you said was outrageous because you said that was your speed with your 7 iron. A few year ago tour average was 90 mph with a 7 iron which is about 172 carry with a 5 negative angle of attack. I would say that number has probably creeped up in the past few years but it is still in the mid to low 90s. So a 110mph swing speed with a 7 iron is outrageous. That is most likely a driver swing speed, which is still pretty fast.

Outrageous for 7-iron.

That article looks like it's all Driver data.

Fair enough. I'm guessing there was an issue with the hardware taking the measurements then... or the guy giving me the lesson was just trying to make me feel good about myself

You either misunderstood or he’s not someone who anyone should take a lesson from if he’s telling ams their 7 iron swing speed is 110 mph.
