So I know that braces aren’t cheap, but we have to get two of our kids braces. One kid only needs partial and the other full set and we’re quoted ~$4k for one and ~$7k for the other. Those prices seem pretty dang high to me - does anyone have some recent quotes on the costs for braces?

I don't have any personal experience, but I had always heard around 10k for a full set.

Don’t do it they’re just gonna not wear the retainer and it’ll be a waste

I got knockoff Invisalign as an adult and it was like 1600

18 month program for mine cost around $3,500 I think. I don't know, I got mad, then cried, then put it into the memory hole.

That sounds pretty normal to me, unfortunately.

Those are normal quotes for braces.

The ortho will set out a program & time line and price them accordingly. Make sure you stay on their arse about following the orthodontist orders or it will cost you even more later if the kids dick around and have to keep them on longer.

Thanks for the responses, we have one other ortho in our network that we are going to get a consult for and then pick one. We will see if there are any big differences

Paid about $5000 for my daughter’s. Had a payment plan for most of it.

A lot of it also depends on dental insurance coverages. My old job had a one time $1,750 allotment for orthodontics. We were quoted around $5,300. They processed the claims through Blue Cross of Alabama, and we were billed the remainder over a payment plan, and it ended up being around $100 a month. I really wish I had started on my second child's braces prior to leaving the old job since that was a pretty nice benefit. Current employer dental coverage doesn't have that option.
