Did you have scapular winging? How’d you injure it? Pretty uncommon thing.

Yes I did have some winging.
Got thrown from an elevated platform at about 18 ft up. Surgery #6.

I've had severe nerve issues before but never this. What were your symptoms leading up to your surgery?

Pain, weakness, limited range of motion before my shoulder blade would get out of place.

So sorry you've had to deal with this. Nerve pain is horrific. I hope this surgery helps you so much and quick healing!

Thank you, I appreciate that! I hope this fixes it, the alternative is a lot more of a big deal. They go in and wire your shoulder blade to your ribs and take a muscle from the chest and move it to the shoulder blade.
Yikes.

Ok I've had my 1st rib removed, but what you just described sounds horrible lol. I'll be praying for you that this surgery you've just had is your answer!

First rib removed

Was this to treat thoracic outlet syndrome for you? Or something else..

Did removing your first rib solve your problem?

I bet that was quite an experience wasn’t too easy to get over.

It was pretty darn brutal I have to say lol. It took a long time, but I feel like it was so worth it

It definitely helped so much. I also ended up having my pec minor released and between the two of them it solved my issues.

Glad it worked out for you, that sounds a lot more involved than what I had done. First post op today for me so we will see what happens lol

Glad it worked for you. Depending on ones individual anatomy, surgically releasing the pec minor and/or the anterior scalene is what ultimately does the trick.

It was definitely not fun. I think the worst was having to do the breathing apparatus to keep my lung working well. That and this muscle in my upper back. Omg felt like I was being stabbed.

Yeah I had already had other surgeries on my arm thinking it was just cubital tunnel syndrome. Once I got that extra space in that scalene area and pec area it made a world of difference.

Wait so you had the neck shoulder area or cubital tunnel done?

I’m debating cubital on right elbow. It always hurts

I had pec minor release on my left side and it helped

For those with the Thoracic outlet surgery, who did your surgery?

I’m in Dallas and Dr Pearl is one of the best in the world. He’s done many MLB guy. I was lucky to see him

I had both. So at the elbow, in the hand, the rib removal and the pec minor release. So I guess the quadruple lol.

I've heard Dr. Pearl is the ABSOLUTE BEST so I'd say you're in great hands!
