PSA QUESTION

My PSA went from 3.5 to 11.4 and estrogen went from 76 to 339 in 6 months. Doctor ordered immediate MRI of prostate. Should I be concerned? Anybody have something similar happen? I’m 66.

Yes you should be concerned but don't get too worked up. Prostate cancer is very "curable".
I am surprised you doctor didn't order a biopsy.

Yes, that’s cause for concern. My dad had or has the same condition. However, he was able to lose weight, changed his habits and lifestyle and brought it back down to normal levels with medication. So, technically he has prostate cancer, but as the doctor told him, “You will die an old man with prostate cancer, but you will not die because of prostate cancer.” Listen to your doctor and do what you need to do.

Pretty big jump. Curious as to the outcome.
Im 55.
My PSA was 2.xx for years. Went to my urologist for something completely unrelated last May. He said that’s high. Really? My IM Dr. didn’t say anything. So,e google searches say it’s normal. Some don’t. . Ran test again twice. Still high.
Ordered a biopsy. That was no fun. Well turns out I had 4 of 12 cores abnormal. 2 were Gleason 3+3 (not even considered cancer). But 2 were 3+4, intermediate favorable cancer.
That started a 9 month journey of multiple opinions from Hopkins, MD Anderson, UCLA, NY Presby….
For ANYONE… don’t accept the first opinion of any Dr. There are many different treatments for PCa.
Just thought I’d post as a PSA, hopefully you didn’t get the diagnosis.

I've heard this more than once. Basically, we will all die with colon cancer, prostate cancer, etc, etc.

It is very age dependent. Yeah a lot men will get PCa. But being diagnosed at 54 is much different than 74. Someone diagnosed in their 70’s-80’s might just die with it…
Don’t ignore it and avoid getting checked out regularly thinking along these lines, that “I will probably just die with it”. Unchecked it can get very ugly and it can be the thing that does kill you. I watched my grandfather die a slow very painful death from PCa that metastasized.
But, if you’re going to get cancer, it’s probably the best one to get.
By the way. I never had a positive DRE. Discovered via PSA and biopsy.
