lifting

So I know we talked about this a little bit before the 2.0 thread closed, that I’m still on machine work, but my goal is to be free weight lifting by the end of the year. I’m a fat girl and not afraid to admit that they do intimidate me, but I’m pretty determined to get there. I’m down 45lbs so far, but the more I lose the more I realize that my focus has to change from the scale to the silhouette I want, I’d rather be a little more bulky for a girl than to have my skin hanging all over and look like one of those people who have the bypass surgery, ya know? That’s just as bad as being fat to me. When I was watching the snake diet guy this morning he was saying that once you get there that your body will eventually eat that extra skin too through fasting, but the people posting in the fb motivation group don’t seem to be showing that level of difference in the before and afters, so it’s hard to trust, ya know?
I know I’m on a different level than you guys in here, but I do appreciate the guidance and consrant kick in the arse to stay consistent and motivated.

If your skin is stretched and lost the elasticity, it doesn't matter how fast or slow you lose it, the skin will hang.

As far as lifting using the machines, I'll post you a routine to get a bad arse workout only using machines.

Are you down to use dumbbells or are those in the free weight area too? What about dip and pullups assist machine? What kind of machines do you have access to, plate loaded or only slecatable?

That’s my thought process too, so I feel like at least if I can fill that space with muscle it will be more aesthetically pleasing, even if it never means that I’m traditionally skinny or small.

I’ve been tracking my workouts lately, trying to focus on either upper or lower body only, starting with one weight higher than I think I can successfully move, and lifting that until either the muscle fails, or I do 4 sets of 12. If I fail before completing the 4th set then I drop weight, if I complete the 4th set then I just keep pushing it until failure. (I might be doing that wrong, but I was trying to apply the GLSP the way I was reading it to the machines.)
In between machines I do body weight squats, sit-ups, stepups, wall sits, that sort of thing.

I use planet fitness, typically from 4:30-6:30pm, so dumbbells are available as well as all the standard machines. It’s kind of crowded during the first part of the week so I stay in the circuit room then, just so I’m not making people wait on machines because of me, but by August when the kid is driving to school I want to switch that to an early am workout when there are a lot less people in there.

I’m basically down to do whatever works, because change is the ultimate goal. I’m 37, it’s beyond time to stop fricking around with my life/health.
That was a book. Sorry about that.

What you are doing is perfect. Keep doing that.

Email me though, easier to communicate that away for the fasting.

Just watched that dry fast video. I’d assume you don’t workout while doing that?

Ugh - I guess I am slowly winding the alcohol and coffee down again. Reasoning - they are getting in the way. I know I will feel better for it.

I’m going to fast from 7pm yesterday until I get off of work. Going to devour some watermelon when I get home!

So passed the 24 hour mark, so far so good. workout was better than I expected energy wise, I had a little bit of a dip compared to last weeks Rep numbers, however for the heaviest starting weights reps went up before failure, so I feel pretty good about that.
SLEEPY AF around hour 16-18, that passed and I feel like my energy is back to normal. I thought I was gonna be starving after my workout, but so far manageable, I’m staying out of the kitchen though.

So first week wasn’t too bad. It’s a challenge eating all this protein. My grocery bill definitely went up. But, I am losing some weight. I’m sure it’s water weight right now, but my pants are falling off. Last week I “dieted,” but I wasn’t keeping track of anything. Either way, I’m definitely in a caloric deficit. I know I put my starting weight at 230 or 235 on here, but I actually started at 240, and now I’m at 229. So, progress. I haven’t broke 2,000 calories on any day this week, not for lack of trying. But I did manage to get my protein levels above 180 grams. So, today is a low carb day. I’ll get to enjoy a little bit of a potato and gobs of fish. I’ll try to post updates on here once a week and post a weight every other week. Weightlifting is stil great, but I’m about to hit resets. But that’s where the GAINZ come. Heading to the beach tomorrow morning. First trip I’ve taken for pleasure in like 10 years. Surfs up bruh.

I usually eat too much protein, but carb cycling is difficult for me, because my brain gets in low carb mode and hitting that many carbs for me tends to be a task unless I eat complete junk.

Yeah it’s tough. Funny thing is I’m not tempted to eat junk. I just don’t have the desire to eat. Even after working out and being in deficit, I want no food.

Maybe you should jump on this fasting train that we have going on lately.

sweet things dont generally bother me, If its something that I super want I can usually take one bite and walk away, but I do miss salty, crunchy things.

I’m trying to get my macros in to promote muscle growth. I’m going to space out my meals today. See how that goes.

Back from vacation today. Time to clamp the diet back down and rebuild positive momentum. Not going to weigh for a couple of weeks.

Am I the only a-hole that doesn’t change my diet on vacation?
