You create a sturdiness by pushing all of your core muscles against the belt. That is the reason a full belt is recommended and not a tapered belt. You want coverage all around the stomach and back. The more material you have, the more you can push against it and it keep rigid.


So you essentially inhale and expand your core into the belt during the lift instead of exhaling?

I use a leather Harbinger belt from Dick’s Sporting Goods. I think I paid $20. Seems to work well.
