Got my Stumpy 15 frame in to replace my cracked Izzo frame. Built it up two weeks ago for my son to race at the Capitol City Enduro in Little Rock. He took 2nd in Pro again (it's becoming a habit...). It was his second day on the bike, so not a bad result for a "new" bike for him. And bonus: he didn't break my bike!

Racing an enduro in Hot Springs this weekend. I'll ride my "old" Stumpy Evo that's built up a lot heavier than my SJ 15. My son will race the SJ 15. It's always a good time at this festival, and a lot of my riding friends will be racing as well. Looking forward to it!

Trainer 3x during the week, Saturday group, Sunday group road//gravel.

This past Saturday we started an hour later than usual, but it was still chilly. Sunday was our first group gravel ride of the year. It was fun but nervous getting the gravel legs back under me.

Back up to the 60's this Saturday, though!

Just scrapped up and a sore hip but I rode today and was fine. Bike was OK too, thanks for asking about her. Those kids riding them are a menace and the cops aren't allowed to chase them and the kids know it.

Both kids and adults fly on those stupid things. I've had them buzz me running on the Tammany Trace multiple times

Don’t get me started on the Surrons. My son had a huge fracture in his friend group as some kids moved to surrons and others stuck with pedals. The Surron kids took great pleasure in going out and just ripping up all the jumps and trails that the MtB kids worked on. The entitlement of those kids is insane.

We have our fair share of e-bikers that don’t pay attention and take up the entire bike path or pull out in front of you, but luckily kids on e-bikes hasn’t become a problem, yet…

they have em around here. we coexist so far. the kids bother me less than some dork on an 1000w motor eMTB who run up behind on you on a trail ringing his dork arse bell. you aint passing i promise

Hung on yesterday with A group for the entire ride. I did not do my fair share of pulling. I did manage to close a gap (with help) and grab on once when some of the stronger riders tried to break away.

Gravel today.

Did a gravel race yesterday. Have historically done the 60ish mile route (65-67 miles) but after realizing I hate riding gravel that long I did the 30ish mile route last year on the single speed. Decided to bring my normal gravel bike this year with gears and everything. Not much competition in the 30ish (37 miles) group with around 50 rides in the various age/gender groups. Had 3 athletes from our mountain bike team compete in the 30 mile and one other coach. One athlete sagged back early at mile 3 after a big hill climb. I tried to pull him back to the group who quickly went out of sight but he dropped off my wheel so I tried to bridge the gap before they hit the road section at mile 6.5. There were 4 in that lead group and I know if they hit the road before I catch up I'll never be able to catch them. I slowly started reeling them in but I was still a couple of hundred yards off their tail when they hit the road and I never saw the group again. I was pushing hard threshold so I dropped back down to a nice tempo pace and went solo. The 2nd longer road section after the aid station at mile 20 is 5 miles of brutal just enough false flat soul sucking elevation gain you mentally think you should be going faster and you are riding head first into the prevailing wind. With a good line of riders you can easily do 18-19mph in this section but I was having to push hard threshold just to keep it at 14-15 solo.

Mile 30 had my right calf want to cramp. I think I was pedaling oddly the first 30 miles because I started the day with a bit of pain in my right hip and I was compensating trying to protect my hip.

4 in the lead group finished at 2:08. I finished at 2:24. The rest of the field started tricking in around 2:35.

3 drank 2.5 955ml water bottles
13 "Fruit Slice" gummies I lightly misted with water and sprinkled mortons light salt on to make electrolyte gummies. 12g of carbs each. for 156g of carbs
2 hammers gel packs with 25g of caffeine and 22g of carbs each.

1st of 5 in my 40-49 age group. 5th out of 50. 198g of carbs total 50g of caffeine and 2.4l of water.

Nice. I showed at worlds for the first time in 2 months and got my head kicked in. I’m jumped into rotation early and pulled hard. I felt good and strong until the lights went out all the sudden. We have moto escort for our group ride, so moto man pulled me back up to the group and I just tried to sit in. Ended up getting shelled about 7 miles from the finish.

Nice work gritting it out solo. Sucks that you came that close to bridging but couldn't make it. Painful!. Do you think you could have hung with the lead group if you'd gotten to them before the road?

Great weekend of racing enduro for us in Hot Springs at the Gudrun Festival. I managed 1st in 50+ amateur. My son got 1st in Pro and took home $750, which is a pretty good purse. All of our group of young riders podiumed, with three of them filing the Expert podium, and two others, besides my son, on the pro podium. Gorgeous weekend to be on bikes around here! Woke up to 22 degrees this morning, though, so things have gotten colder.
