I got that hyper tough combo pack with the drill impact driver, sawsall, and light for CHEAP off the clearance rack right before Wal Mart switched to Hart. I think I got the 4 pack for $29 bucks. I also got some extra batteries for really cheap too.

They are fine for just about anything I need to do around the house.

Screw china.

That said I avoid Chinese-made tools as much as possible

Good luck with that. Almost all the "good" tool brands make their shite in China. The exceptions would be the companies that specialize in hand tools. You can still find good American made hand tools from Snap-on, Mac, SK, Matco, and Proto. (SK is made in USA but the CCP bought them out a few years ago). These brands are ridiculously expensive and not worth it for a DIY'er or home owner.

As for power tools, they are all made in China and many of the brands are owned by the CCP. Milwaukee, an iconic American brand, is owned directly by the CCP. Skil, another great American brand, is also owned by the CCP now. SK tools makes their stuff in America, but the CCP bought them out in 2021.

The only power tools you can find not made in China would be Hilti, Festool and Matco. Hilti and Festool are European (and made in Europe) and Matco makes both their hand tools and power tools in the USA (New York). However, Matco just assembles them in the USA, so you can bet most of the components were made in Chy-na.
