It's not all that hard. What you need is a utility knife with a new blade and it would also help if you had one of those scrapers that painters use to remove paint from window glass that uses a single edge razor blade.
Use the utility knife to remove the brunt of the silicone caulk and then use the scraper type blade to get off any remains off the tub surface. Once the old caulk is removed, clean the area really good and then let it dry completely before applying any replacement caulk.
Pro tip if using silicone again: Get a spray bottle and put Isopropyl alcohol in it and grab a bunch of paper towels. Apply the caulk into the seams and to spread it cleanly and evenly spray the alcohol on the seam and use your finger to run across the caulk to force it into the seam and end up with an even surface. Use the paper towels to wipe any excess off your finger as it accumulates-----------and it will.
After this is done, allow at least 12 hours for the caulk to dry and set before showering.

Thanks for the detail. I have to do this to the caulk at the bottom of my tiled shower soon.

You're welcome. You won't believe how easy it is to spread the silicone with the alcohol sprayed on it. Spray the entire length of the bead so you can keep going from one end to the other without stopping for a neater job.

Hold the phone, people.
Are we talking about "Grout", a cementitious product. OR "Sealants"?

This entire thread is about removing and replacing Silicone Caulk in a tub surround where all the seams along the sides and along the length and width of the tub where the silicone is used to seal joints.
