Does having a dog affect the amount of weeds you have in your yard? Serious question.

I understand that it can result in dead/brown spots but would it increase the weed population?

You shouldn't have a lot of trouble controlling that.
I mostly just pull it when I can. It only gets sprayed when it's involved in a multi-species attack.

And OP just so you know, the Manor ronk is referring to is the same herbicide as MSM Turf that is often discussed and recommended on this board. Professionals like ronk might use Manor, home owners might use MSM Turf b/c you can buy in smaller bottles.

On msm…. Currently I use CelsiusWG. I apply it at 30%-40% of the yearly max every 3-4 months. It works wonders. But as I always delay the next application as long as possible to not exceed the max yearly but usually start to have weeds in that last few weeks. I’d like to incorporate another herbicide to use, either alternating or applying at warmer and cooler times (like Celsius may-Sept and msm oct-apr).

Firstly, is that a good idea/possible?

Secondly, what is the mix ratio for MSM? I spray about 15,000 SF with a tow behind sprayer 15 gal.

My list of herbicides that I use are Tripower, Certainty, Atrazine, Monument, Manor, Celsius, Sedgehammer, and Tribute. Tripower on broadleafs during the cool season, Manor in the spring and fall, and Celsius in the summer.

Do you know the spray rate of your rig?

I don’t know the particular spray rate. But I know at about 1/4 throttle towing it I can spray 15,000sf and my tank is 15 gallons. So very unscientifically I spray 1000sf/gal.

ETA: I spray sedgehammer once yearly from my tow behind a prayer then spot spray as needed. I also put down prodiamaine every 3-4 months as well. I had great success over the winter with no weeds popping up but as it heats up they’re starting to show up so I hit it yesterday with both Celsius and prodiamine (+surfactant).

I have a big jug of target6 MSMA but don’t use it in my front yard as the first time I used it I didn’t realize it doesn’t play well my neighbors centipede. I use it in my back yard (2 acers so not spending money to put Celsius!) to knock down dallis grass and also use 2-4-d for clovers back there.

I ordered some MSM turf. Will use that next round. What’s my mix rate for 1000sf/gallon?
Is there a maximum yearly application?

I’m coming up with ~4.6 grams of msm per 15,000sf. Is that correct?!

15,000sf =~= 0.33 acre
0.5-1.0oz per acre

So if I go with 0.5 to start that’s 0.165oz/0.333 acre or about 4.6 grams.

This 8oz bottle will outlive me.

Yes, if you are spraying 1G/1000 then it would be .17 ounces. My system rounds up.

I spray a mixture of Atrazine and 24D. Don't use weed and feed. Kill the weeds before you fertilize.

I use MSM. I sprayed my acre lot 2 weeks ago. It took care of all my broadleaf weeds

As I've gotten older, I prefer a natural yard over a manicured lawn.
