Can't operate bucket trucks in 30 mph winds. In BR, they are being sent home to wait til it passes. Expect them to start servicing tomorrow morning I imagine.
They will work 16 hour shifts, but I don't know about night shifts.

I'm listening to the LA State Trooper dispatch feed and they're asking each other to pick up their families that are trapped

Do they not have a night shift? Or does everybody just work from early in the morning until late at night?
I don't know about Entergy, but the utility company I work for goes from 0600-2200 every day. That includes mobilization and set up. Beyond 10:00 PM, it becomes dangerous due to exhaustion and darkness. Remember, if they're working on a line, the electricity is out. It is eerily dark immediately after a storm.

They do need lights to work though. I expect 18 hour days.
here in houston, they worked on lines from lights on their truck or they pulled portable light standards.

Is there anywhere online to listen to it?

They probably work in shifts then. Or they were working on transmission lines or high priority circuits.

I'm not sure, I'm listening on TuneIn Radio on my iPhone. You can also stream the NOPD, NOFD, Jeff Parish Sherriffs office, among others.

Ok. What is the feed for state police
Posted on 8/29/12 at 3:21 pm to Wedge
If it's transmission or high priority, we work until it's done. The other circuits wait. Although we can put out hundreds of linemen at a time.

Try just searching "New Orleans" in TuneIn Radio. The police/emergency scanners are at the bottom of the list. It's not really anything helpful, it's just interesting to listen in on.
