Bubba, what do you think about Bridgewater? Does he have the perimeter skills to translate well to college? From the film I saw of him, he is capable of hitting a spot up three, but I couldn't tell much about his ability to shoot off the dribble, penetrate or handle the ball in the open court.

From what I've seen, he's an undersized power forward. Which is OK. Projects to be a solid college player. Will need to improve skill level to excel in college and beyond.

I would definitely take him. A much more productive high school career thus far than Jones.

Thanks Bubba. I was wondering if Bridgewater might be a similar college player to PJ Hairston of UNC, who I think is something like 6-4, 230. Burly guy, but can shoot outside and handle the ball.

Hopefully Bridgewater is a better shooter than Hairston who shot 31% overall and 27% from three.

I'm thinking more like Tasmin Mitchell.

I appreciate the good insight. Makes me feel better about Deng Deng.

Any news on Trocha?

I don't think we are involved. Not positive.

We just lost Damian Jones, a top 100 instate player, to Vanderbilt.

Intelligent players will occasionally leave to attend prestigious universities free of charge. Shan Foster did it, too.

Did LSU offer Foster? We know they offered Jones, so this is worse. Plus, I'm surprised that the criticism here has been so mellow. TJ would've been killed for losing a national Top 100 in his back yard.

Exactly. The Foster loss hurt too. Don't understand the seeming disregard of the Jones loss. He was the second best player in the 2013 class instate. CJJ MUST land Martin.

Generally speaking, I consider offer lists. We beat out next to no one for Deng and Odoh.

Jones had a solid offer sheet.

Also, you want to talk about projects we have two junior college projects committed. Two shot blockers/rebounders with undevloped offensive games. Id rather a high school project any day.

Let's see, Johnny Jones has been LSU's coach for what? Four or five months. Trent got five years. See the difference? Plus ranking services aren't the end all of whether a player is any good. Honey Badger was only a 3 out of high school, lightly recruited, but ended up in New York for the Heisman.

At least wait and see these recruits play and see what Damien does at Vanderbilt before you start talking in absolutes. In the long run Odoh may turn out to be a better player, you just never know. Damien Jones talked like he wanted to go out of state from the very first I heard of his preferences and his mother backed him.

Usually the reason you have a better chance with an in state guy is that he wants to play where his parents and friends will be able to see him play. So I can't see blaming Johnny for this one.

Offer lists are often a legit means of evaluating a player, but often can lead you astray -- especially when dealing with international and junior college players. These players are often "placed" at a school by a college and are protected from recruitment from other schools.

On Deng Deng: I have made this point in other threads, but apparently you are not paying attention. This player was sent to Lee College by David Patrick, who is an LSU assistant. No other school could or would recruit him, because he was going to go where Patrick told him to go. There is another Australian player there named Jackson Hussey. If the JUCO coach doesn't make sure to protect the player in his recruitment, then his pipeline of Australian players will dry up.

On Odoh: I think this quote from Swede Trenkle, his JUCO coach, (from Tigerbait) says it all:

"Everybody called us from every league," Trenkle said. "You name it from every level. We just didn't let anybody recruit him because he had some academic work and it wasn't worth him having to worry about that. He was always interested in LSU."

My gut feeling without any knowledge of style of play and without having watched any video is that Odoh will be similar to a Jabari Smith-type of pickup. This is really good news.

LSU did offer Foster. Brady was the HC at the time. I can't knock our recruiting too badly under Brady, cause we had some nice talent come through, but this was his worst recruiting effort during his tenure at LSU. He completely botched the handling of Shan Foster.

Thanks for sending up the Brady Bat Signal to all of the wackos that still love to defend him. This thread will be at 20 pages when they are done.

Truthfully, they may have all moved on. Don't see them much anymore. Except that MisterT fool, who has been about 10 other user names.
