The OL needs to come together as a unit. It could, but we don’t have 3 elite guys playing on a unit that has 6 or 7 guys that have been part of an elite rotation playing together for a few years. It seems like that’s what Bama had that we don’t have.

I notice you don’t have Indiana in your top 5. I was wondering what their team would look like next year and how they would do. They’re probably the toughest team to read going into next year but they’ll be really good because of their coach.
I thought we would pick up one elite CB in the portal but we do appear to have a very good secondary. Picket will be elite. Some of our safeties can probably play corner in a pinch.
For those scoffing at the prospect of converting a WR into a CB, that’s exactly what Saban did with Corey Webster.

There out of eligibility.
Holy cow! He got both along with a very promising small college QB.
Those are some nice highlights. He towers over his competition, is physical and has good speed.
I say get this guy for 1/4 of the price for Seaton and get two more OLs. Seaton could get hurt and that $4M or whatever he is going to command is going to get flushed. You take that chance on Leavitt because he's a QB. I don't know if you pay that price for a guy who is part of a 5-man unit.

Good, that's what my impression is as well. That's a lot of money to spend on someone who is likely only going to slightly move the needle in the unit's production. I'd rather spend on two really solid OLs and an elite CB.
Looking at the schedule and all of the uncertainty, including the health status of Leavitt, I'm thinking folks should expect 3 losses next year. I'm not saying that's best-case scenario, but that is a reasonable expectation of success.
That may or may not get us to the playoffs but that record with solid, improving play as the season progresses is what I'm expecting.

Not that I know anything but I remember reading about him, thinking he would be an elite guard at his peak development. In last year's OL class, he was the guy I was most interested in.
I don't see Landen Clark either. Does this mean we still have no QBs?

I agree. Leavitt's silent commitment (if it happened) means nothing. We need to sign Clark and see how things play out with Leavitt or any other higher profile QB. Sign Guerra or Holstein too.

Also, Leavitt was looking at his phone and ignoring Kiffin. That's not a good look. It shows a lack of interest and a lack of respect.
I'd like to sign Leavitt if we can but I trust LK's judgment. We don't know how his injury will affect his future performance and frankly, I'm not sure about his attitude. Lots of pictures at the game where you could tell Lane was annoyed and the kid was on his phone, not being present. It's an interview, for goodness sake. If I were interviewing a promising college kid for a very important job and he kept scrolling his phone that would tick me off. It was also troubling to see that he may have acted similarly at UT.
Now, Leavitt can remedy that but I don't know if he will.
