All good points. I understand that we are a football state but the basketball talent is deeper than some may think. A solid coach that can develop players can feast in La. If that football fence can be built than we need a basketball coach who can lend a hand in its construction. Who ever follows HS basketball knows that if hit the trail hard in state we can be very very competitive. Our last teams that made solid runs were made up of local boys.

JJBTiger2012-I totally agree. The state is loaded with Athletic players, Most need development and it will take a coach that KNOWS how to develop that talent and go cherry pick from Texas/Mississippi/Florida corridor.

We need to adopt a Butler/Wichita State/Xavier/Cincinnati style of recruiting. They seem to find the high 3 star guys that stay 3-5 years and develop. When they put these classes back to back to back they end up with great depth

Great player. Not better than Tone

Not surprised if LSU has the reputation of not recruiting players smart or hard and not doing solid follow-up.

This is certainly something that should not characterize the new coach.

He needs to have top notch recruiters on his staff and be a solid recruiter himself.

The criticism of Jones is his classes lacks balance. He's overloaded at the guard position. That's a major flaw in recruiting. There's no reason to have 5-6 guards and NO bigs one Big on the roster.

Unfortunately the dismissal of Craig Victor and the failure of Elbert Robinson magnified this situation. Epps has his moments but as Al McGuire once said He plays in a tuxedo.

Skyler will have been a better take than Peters when their college tenures are said and done.

It was either Sampson or Evans. We chose Sampson. Played pick up with Evans. Great guy. Wish we would have chosen him over Sampson but in reality I believe Sampson can be just as good with the right coach developing him next year.

I think Rico Gathers is our biggest miss of late. Would have been nice to have him as a senior enforcer inside.

Will be interesting to track how Mark Vital out of Lake Charles develops next season. He redshirted this year at Baylor.

Not certain LSU chose Ralston Turner over Langston Galloway since Galloway had he family connection at St Josephs. Ralston was a fairly highly regarded player who showed much promise. Unfortunately he transferred to N C State and played well against us in the NCAA tournament. From Muscle Shooooooaaaaals, Alabama.

I agree with the comment about Mark Vital having a chance to develop. I am also waiting to see how Christian Edwards develop if he gets an opportunity to play basketball at Alabama while competing in track. LSU have overlooked talent at Washington Marion.
