Dude, you are missing the point. The kid can want to go to LSU all they want, if PM shuts the door then it is done. I can remember several of these kids during the LLWS broadcast listing LSU as their favorite. I doubt that has changed much in two years, regardless of where they go to high school. Quinn lists LSU as a choice (only one listed right now) in football on the the Rivals website, so I am sure he is interested in baseball as well.
The other posters know more than me, I have just heard that everybody EXCEPT LSU has been at Barbe.

I seriously doubt PM would blackball a kid that's a big time recruit and wants to come to LSU, just because he attends Barbe. The kid and his parents can contact PM and take care of everything, they dont need Cechinni's approval to speak with or sign with LSU.

Issue becomes if a barbe player is roughly a wash with a player from another school I could see PM spending more time recruiting the kid from another school so he doesnt have to worry about his past experiences with GC. If a player at Barbe really wants to be a Tiger, there is nothing GC can do to stop it from happening.

LSUTool, the kid in question is Cecchini's kid!! I live over here. My two sons played for Barbe. I coached South Lake Charles Little League for years. All these kids live and breath LSU. And, for LSU to completely drop the ball in this area is just unfathomable for me. I'm telling you, we never see LSU. There is just NO EXCUSE!

Anyway, sorry I have ranted about this. I love LSU and just hate to see Lake Charles given over to the Texas schools and Bianco. This area is a monster baseball town. Unbelievable, young talent coming thru in the next 3 years. Barbe, Sulphur, Sam Houston. Man, come on PM, it is just 2 hours away.

That is exactly what I have heard from many in that area. No LSU presence, for whatever reason (I have my suspicions and they are on the LSU end and NOT Barbe's). It is NOT the kids. Those kids will want to go to LSU, and their coach will encourage them to go where they want.
Or we can keep sticking our head in the sand and alienate a part of the state that has VERY good baseball.

TigerAlum, I wish I had some suspicion. Maybe I wouldn't rant then.

thanks for providing input lkchuck.. sounds like a very unfortunate situation where PM got his feelings hurt and is penalizing fertile recruiting grounds.. shame on PM if this is the case. He needs to get over the signing, hell I woulda bolted too if got that much higher than slotted.. He needs to get ovfer it

So has this lack of presence started just recently or has it been an issue for awhile?

From what I understand it started after the older son took the MLB money and LSU backing off the younger one. PM said in a statement that he was backing off the program.

There are some rumblings about retirement but nothing I can see happening for at least 3 years. His team had 5 freshman (4 starters) last year and went to the quarterfinals. He has a real chance at 3 more state titles. Hard to do but the tools in place.

I don't agree with the NO presence at all in LC......maybe somewhat at Barbe. I know PM had talks w/ J. Foster at Barbe this past year. A full ride was just to much to pass up for him and that's understandable.

Very hard to do......there are some good teams in 5A
Hopefully, this situation will work itself out soon. Personally, they are one of the few teams I love to see get beat.....just because of the cockiness that's encouraged by the coaching staff.

Well, when Ole Miss, Texas, A & M, Alabama and Tulane have more presence than LSU what would you call it? I can't understand it. Hell, Skip would even come around now and then.

PM didn't mind the 2 hour drive for Evan Powell of Sam Houston

Maybe LSU just decided to not waste time with any player named Cechinni or any pitcher from Barbe since nearly everyone of them's pitching arm falls off within 2 years of leaving Barbe High School.
