Bottom line I trust the evaluations of our staff. Our coaches seem to have a good eye for talent regardless of star rankings. Lord knows I see enough of them balling out on Sunday.
I agree with you there. Based on players in the NFL, LSU had the best recruiting over the past decade or so. I'm not sure what their class average is over that time (around 5?) so the staff obviously outperformed the services which is noteworthy.
At the same time, they haven't come close to matching that with on-field results. Very frustrating.

Plenty recently
2009
Morris Claiborne, Benny Logan,
2011
Jalen Collins, Trai Turner
2012
Travin Dural, Deion (Debo) Jones, Jalen Mills
2013
Lewis Neal, Duke Riley (because of this year)
Barring injury, D.J. Chark is on his way to being on there.
You also have guys that had decent success in Alfred Blue, Terrence Magee, Ronald Martin, Jerald Hawkins, etc.

Exactly I really don't like all this 3* nonsense, but I do compare him to Chark just because he camped the coaches saw him in person and liked what they saw obviously for good reason. Even 3* prospects are great prospects, really depends on the drive these guys have individually and that goes for 5* guys also. I definitely trust this staff to offer kids that belong and this isn't exactly the end of the process. We still have lots of big board players left so they obviously think highly of Racey so welcome my man! GT

Hell no Claiborne was a 5*
Hell no he wasn't. He was a 3* athlete who played Qb in his school and wasn't offered by LSU until very late
