LSU still had Joe Sloan in charge of the offense. That was the much, MUCH, bigger problem. That offensive approach was awful and no QB, including a healthy Nussmeier would have had any real success in it. Listen to any former player who followed LSU. They will tell you that. If you listened to Hester and Flynn they, nicely, implied the offensive approach was horrible. After BK was ousted they were more direct in speaking about just how bad the design and play calling was. For example, one said "It might help if you have more than 1 and half running plays so the defense doesn't know exactly what it coming every time." Or, "does LSU (i.e. Sloan) know you are allowed to throw the ball over the middle of the field?" This isn't people on the Rant saying that. It's guys who played high level football for years.

You know what pisses me off the most? A fully healthy Nuss and the OL we had in 2024 (which was mediocre at best) beats Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Vandy and Bama. Remember after going up by 17 in the first half, Bama only scored 3 points in the 2nd half. We actually were only down by 10 points vs Vandy going into the 4th quarter. Both teams stalled out with back to back 3 and outs in the fourth after we kicked that FG to get down to 7. Only on their final drive did they start moving the football again.

A healthy Nuss and half decent OL alone gets us to 11-1. Just like not having the worst defense in LSU history in 2023 gets us to 11-1.

If you want to reduce BK's failure to one decision, it was the decision to let Denbrock walk in what was ultimately an effort to sign Underwood. BK didn't fully appreciate that recruiting now is really just contract negotiations. It DID NOT matter that LSU invested years and money in building the relationship with Underwood. In the end, the bigger contract offer won out.
If LSU had paid Denbrock, the run game wouldn't have fallen off a cliff either. I showed these numerous times, but LSU's RBs as a unit averaged over 5 yards a carry in Denbrock's offense. Literally the same OL the very next year who had 2 years of starting together, only mustered 4.3 ypc from the RBs. Look at what Denbrock did his last year at Cincinnati and what he has done at Notre Dame too. Only 2 RBs from 2021 to 2025 at 3 different schools have averaged under 5 yards a carry for him. Both of those guys averaged 4.89 and 4.93 yards respectively. This is a double digit number of RBs too.

That's why I keep saying to not blame the blocking strictly on Brad Davis. The RBs had few problems running behind those lines in Denbrock's offenses.

It's crazy that both Miles and Kelly died by the OC sword.

WTF are you talking about?
You don't even know you're doing it

I wish we had 2 threads for every commit

People who love to see commits with no negative thoughts: *blank* just committed to LSU!

People who think, "Yeah he committed, but what does that really mean in today's world".

We had to witness this shite every commit last year. Enjoy the commit or don't. However if you don't enjoy the commit, please start another thread with all the negative Nancy posts.
Oh we are going to be cooking in Kiffin's scheme. A bunch of speed merchants flying everywhere going uptempo.

I listened to it. Houston's pop seems a little sensitive on this one to me, but I can see why he took it the way he did. Moscona was largely complimentary of both players.
lol, I disagree. I definitely understood why he took it that way. I think you need to listen to what Matt said again.

That recent Locked on LSU episode about the whole Haven/Houston situation was a rough listen too. Not sure what the motive is.
Somebody put 2 and 2 together the other day. I think one of the coaches there is a son of Moscona's coach when he was at Catholic High.

I think that is part of the reason of his bias. He's probably heard some of everything from the kid and the coach.

I never bought the kid wanting to be at LSU.

LSU seemed to prioritize Houston. Likely pushed for a commit and Haven wasn’t ready, so they backed off

LSU definitely prioritized Houston, but at the same time Haven NEVER came off like he actually wanted to stay in Louisiana. There is at least one Louisiana guy every year who doesn't give a damn about staying home.

Hopefully Haven is the only one.

That's just Lady Scone being the local idiot once again
I actually am one of the select few on here who really likes listening to him, but that video was a load of bull

What interest has Haven shown for LSU? I mean real interest, not "That's the hometown school"?

I don't hate or dislike him, but just liked Houston better. Both groups of LSU coaches picked going after Houston over Haven as well. I was on here pumping for Houston over all the QBs we were after before Houston signed. I liked his tape far more than the others. I liked the way he threw the ball. I liked his play style. It's one of the reasons I was so happy that we were going so hard for Demond Williams.

Funny enough I was all Haven until I watched baby Nuss, Houston, Haven, and Zeigler all back to back. Haven is the almost perfect exact prototype of an NFL QB, however I want the guy who looks like he'll be a defense's worst nightmare in a Kiffin uptempo offense.

If Kim ends up retiring earlier than expected, its not going to be because anything with will wade like people tried to make up. Its going to be because this is the shite that coaches have to deal with in college sports now. A true freshman plays a bunch, is on a winning team with tons of fan support, and is expected to get a ton of playing time moving forward tells the HC that they are staying and then one week later changes her mind
When people say this do they forget coaches do this shite literally all the freaking time? Yes the grown arse adult gets to lie to the 20 year olds and everything is okay, but let a 20 year old, in the age range where most indecision and impulsivity happens, change their mind on their future plans, and people act like it's some new age thing that shows lack of character.

You play the game how it goes. Sometimes your side wins and sometimes the other side wins.

She’ll be at LSU next year. I’m 100% confident. If she doesn’t end up at LSU, I’ll give every poster in this thread 10k. And I’m willing to sign a contract to make it binding.
Just tapping in Mr money bags.

Although I want her here too.

You DON'T leave a job as a position coach in the NFL to be an "Analyst" in College unless you're TOLD TO LEAVE by the NFL team.

They told him to "Hit the road Jack and don't come Back."

Your shtick is insanely hilarious and played out, but I'll humor you with what I posted on the front page of TD in the comments...

The Ravens HC was let go, so his guys are gone. While at USC, Martin was the OC with Sam Darnold both years at QB, and as the WR coach through his time with Kiffin, Sark, and Helton. He produced multiple great college and NFL WRs like JuJu Smith-Schuster, Amon Ra St Brown, Nelson Agholor, Marqise Lee, and Robert Woods. He was the QB coach the last 3 years for Lamar Jackson, and Jackson has improved as a top 3 QB because of it. Even last year missing 4 games he had a 3-1, TD to int ratio (21-7) and has averaged 8 yards or better an attempt since Martin has become his QB coach. His ypa average is sitting at 9th all time because of him. Lamar Jackson is currently #1 all time in passer rating because of him.
Love guys who LOVE LSU. People talked about Perk, but Perk loved LSU. He would have gotten paid anywhere. He would have been utilized anywhere. Dude played multiple positions because the team needed it.

Whit Weeks was a 4 star highly rated guy that played like he was a walk on finally getting his chance.

It completely sucks that we never got to see these guys at their best at the same time.

I like how they are against accepting drug money to pay for tuition to an academy, but we made a crypto reserve with billions worth taken from all kinds of criminals, including drug lords.

Yes. She gets to openly run her mouth and be endeared for idioticy that is easily disproven, but the media isnt about to allow counterpoints to da culchas victimization insistency. She gets to be an ignorant racist on the mic, make money from it, get the pick of da afleets who buy her shill, and pretend shes oppressed. What a life. What a life.
When you talk and act like this, you prove everything she says right.

Paid out over 39 months is roughly $200,000 per month IF he doesn't get another job. His new job will reduce this significantly.
They'd also have to pay out the buyout of the next coach while hiring him with a bigger deal than you gave McMahon, plus the average roster in the SEC for basketball is 9.7 mill, plus we're paying 50 something mill for Kelly (he's not going to no other schools), and paying Kiffin big money and paying this high football roster too.

In truth big boosters will really have to be in love with LSU basketball. Think about it like this, how many other schools are trying to throw around the money we are to achieve top tier success in football, Men's BB, Women's BB, and baseball? If the oil money and Nike and Hollywood level boosters aren't pumping every major sport in the top teir of spending. They are picking and choosing.
quote:

Please. No 5'-10 QB's. I don't care how talented if they can't see over SEC linemen.
Bryce Young is one of the best QBs in SEC history. One of the most prolific passers in SEC history. He's also 5'10.

We wanted Demond Williams to come here from Washington. He's 5'10 as well.

Kyler Murray is 5'10

Diego Pavia is just barely 5'10 (70.6%) 3540 pass yards 9.4 ypa 29 TD 8 ints 860 rush yards 5.2 ypc 10 TD in his second year in the SEC

I gave you 2 SEC QBs who led their teams to top seasons (one who won a heisman), a QB for a team in the conference that has won 3 straight NCs with 3 different teams, and a QB who won a heisman and also started for 7 years in the NFL.
Lol. That's that Lil Yachty viral entrance.
Im seriously laughing at the downvotes on the first page. That 40 million roster number that has been thrown around most definitely made it completely impossible for fans and the media to be okay with 9-3 this year. LSU went 8-4 and 9-3 without all that money beforehand. The one thing Kelly did that Ed O didn't do is leave Kiffin with a stable program. LSU was a complete fricking mess when Kelly got here. Lane just has to bring an offense to an already talented defense that improved last year. Something he is known to do.

He has zero excuses with all the talent he has brought in. Three deep legitly at QB, depth for days at RB with two of the most talented RBs in the SEC back. Tons of talented receivers with experience too. Possibly the greatest TE in the country with depth there too. An OL that brings back the best lineman last year (center), plus and immediate plug and play multi year starting guard, plus and immediate plug and play multi year starting tackle. Another tackle and guard from this group is not a daunting task at all.

You can't praise him like some king every day on this board just because he's flying out to meet recruits and then expect to lose 3-4 games this year.
This dude left for over 2 mill a year didn't he? Plus he left for California life and to get connected to the biz out there (like commercials and brands and the like)

I doubt he's losing all that to go back home. Dude seemed like he had zero desire to stay in Louisiana. I live in Shreveport and when I was growing up many kids would either graduate high school or graduate from college and immediately go to Texas.
quote:

Makes it an even bigger indictment on BK for entrusting JOE SLOAN to maximize all the talented pass catches we had. After Bryce underwood flipped Joe Sloan should’ve been demoted back to qb coach or fired.

Baffling staff hires , lazy recruiting, not having a run game and not having the team prepared for big time matchups will be the things that defined the Brian Kelly era .
I've been telling people for the longest. All these bitchmade LSU fans that talked shite about Hankton. His WRs are cooking at the senior bowl.

The offense was straight trash. It's like people forget what Kyren Lacy and Aaron Anderson looked like in 2024 under a decent offensive scheme.
Disagree. Will he be an NFL starter, I can 100% believe that. Will he be a damn good NFL QB? What do you consider "damn good"? Are we talking Justin Herbert? Baker Mayfield? Jordan Love? Yeah I don't personally see it, but would hope he turns it around.
