I'm not saying he isn't fast, but his 4.48 listed time has been debunked.
Michael has consistently clocked in the 4.4 range. Pratt clocked a 4.65, and a 4.6 on grass recently.
He's fast, no doubt, but compared to Lacy, Ford, Richardson and Michael, he's a step behind.
I'd love to have Pratt at A&M, but he simply is not as good as Michael. If LSU gets Michael, you'll see why. Michael will be in front of him on the RB depth chart IMO.
And yes, I agree with you about Richardson.

What state is Trent Richardson from?
If he is committed to Bama, then shouldn't we just move on?
Trent is very developed, maybe that is what the coaches are looking at? he is more SEC ready perhaps than Micheals..but the video I saw of Micheals, I was very impressed.. would be hard to pass him up.
some say he will get a 5th star by all the great camp showings he has had...

Michael is built. If he is consistently running in the 4.4's, he'll be great.

Dude there is no doubt that Michael is better than Pratt and I am an LSU fan as well.

If you are gonna play the "Rivals 40 time" game, why not mention Pratt's 4.44 & 4.48 40 times in Austin? Not to mention his other 40 times he's run in Baton Rouge. Pratt is also 30+ pounds heavier & over 3 inches taller than Michael.

No. You are trying to compare a much smaller RB to a much larger RB. Pratt is on everyone's Top Player lists for several reasons. He's the best "Jumbo" RB I've seen catching the ball out of the backfield this year & last year for that matter. He has great field vision & won't be brought down easily. He's a 6' 2" 227 lbs RB with 4.5 speed & a 41" vertical.

I like Michael, kinda reminds me of Cecil, if LSU signs him then look for Pratt to "eventually" get moved to OLB (which I think he would be an All American at) but hey I thought the same thing about CS.

your comparing apples to oranges when you compare Michael to Pratt
to me they are BOTH at the top at their positions, pratt being the jumbo running back and Michael the all-around back
Really though, I wish Pratt would be a fullback, but a Hester type fullback and not the typical blocking back. Imagine a backfield with Russell Shepard, Dexter Pratt and Michael or Ford. Defenses would just shite their pants if they saw that. My guess is that he will be an H-back similar to Hester but hopefully a little Chris Cooley, playing some te and stuff.

what would happen with dexter pratt IF cm comitted? Would that turn him away? Maybe....
DP is a must keep in this class..why? Because he helps recruit.
I'm not sayin CM wouldn't but who knows..cm is a good rb I give him that..but he isn't a need..either is TR.
MF is just as good..if not better than any rb mentioned in this thread and how can you not be impressed with DP's stats.

DP is way way too athletic and good to play FB, you could never sell that position to him probably. The guy is 225 and growing, has upper 4.4 lower 4.5 speed getting faster, and is has incredible athleticism. I think hes underrated on Rivals, he should be a top 100 player IMO. Just to give you a hint at his athleticism, he has over a 40 inch vertical. I always thought to myself, verticals are some of the best ways to know a players athleticism. If a skill position guy is jumping a 44 inch vertical, you know you got something special there IMO.

No. Pratt is a must have because he is one of the best RBs in the Nation. Him helping with recruiting efforts like Shep, Davenport & others shows dedication to LSU.
quote:Can't disagree with that, Ford is very impressive with a different running style than Pratt. IMO, these 2 compliment each other very well.

That is not would he said, he meant that DP might want to go somewhere else on his own.

I think CM are Richardson are atleast flat lined. They both look impressive to me on film. ( I have never them play a complete game.) But CM looks faster and Rich looks stronger and has a better frame.
Posted on 7/27/08 at 10:22 am to Tiger Phanatick
Ive seen them both Richardson >>>>>Michael and Pratt will be a OLB no doubt about it.
Posted on 7/27/08 at 10:24 am to Texaswill
Pratt is a high runner; he looks to have a build of a LB. Especially since he is saying he wants to bulk up even more to 230. I hope we can get at least TR or CM to go with Ford at RB.

What type of Competition does Richardson play against?

he's from Florida. his brother is at ULL, and his Mom wants him closer to his bro., or so i've read.
from what i've read it seems LSU has the rb's that it slotted for in this class. we don't need another rb. but, the coaches are enamored w/Richardson. both Michael and Richardson have interest in LSU.
do we take another rb in this class, when we don't need another rb? if so, is a commitable offer extended to Michael, or do we hold out and gamble on Richardson flipping from 'Bama thereby losing any chance of signing Michael?

Well, this is just one big pissing match. Michael is probably faster than Pratt, there is no denying that. Pratt is also way bigger than Michael and his speed is not that much slower. We have our speed back in this class and that is Ford. We have more of a power runner in Pratt, though he wont be used just for that. So who is really better. Well its hard to say, it depends on what you are looking for, for your team. They are two different players. You dont compare Barry Sanders and Jerome Bettis, you just accept that both were great in their own way.
LSU wants Richardson, bottom line. If they cant get him, then we take Michael. Puts us in a hard spot because we could lose out on both by doing this. It will be interesting to see how long they wait on taking Michael. Also consider E. Lacy as a contender. But this whole scenario revolves around T. Richardson.
