Well, you have to ask yourself whether or not you believe our message boards are an accurate compass of our fan base in general. If we want to be honest, we would have to say yes....Let's face it- Tiger fans have a reputation of being sky-high when we are winning, and the polar opposite when we aren't. That is the truth.
Looking at it that way, I do believe it's possible for a recruit to factor what is said & how it's said into his decision. Maybe I'm wrong- I'm not some sort of message board "guru". But I do think in the information age we live in it's entirely possible that DD is on to something.....

Our offense this year lost us Hunter.

Until Hunter is quoted saying that's the reason, then I don't buy it. Our starting wideouts had great seasons, and a true frosh had significant playing time (RR) which Hunter was never expected to even have.

Tennessee LOST TO AUBURN, AN AUBURN TEAM WHO OUR TERRIBLE TEAM BEAT 31-10.

Try again.

GTFO PLEASE

Tennessee also has had "worse fans" than LSU in the past week since Kiffin left, Dooley was hired.

I haven't read the whole thread, but there has been nothing but excitement and positive talk about Hunter on this board or any board that I've seen. Stupid excuse.

It doesn't matter. People are going to state their opinions either way. Change the product on the field and the opinions will change. The message boards are only an issue right now (if they actually are an issue) b/c of the poor on-field performance. Fact.

He was one of our most hyped up prospects.

Yall are fools if yall don't think this doesn't play into recruits thought process

FightingTigers1: You are right on....family and friends are all over these boards and too many people get carried away. You simply can't get every recruit that every fan wants. It is great to see 40 year olds bashing 17-21 year old kids isn't it.

I wonder how many recruits never gave/will give LSU a second thought after visiting Rant? Over there Miles, Crowton, Chavis, JJ, dline, 2ndary, oline and waterboy sucks. Curious LSU managed to win a game listening to them. Of course maybe 5 of 50 posters have a clue about playing the game, somebody just sucks.
AU, OU, UGA, USCw and others had worse seasons, but are right there with us. I wonder if they just don't have forums that advertise how badly they suck?

Has anyone mentioned the numerous occasions where the old Dandy One has suggested that Crowton be canned??

I agree that the constant BS that "we're gonna play Shepard and Holiday" every week that turned out to be totally false is Great material for another coach to use against LSU. That throws real doubt into anything Miles tells recruits today...

I'm sure Dandy Don is speculating, but I can't imagine that the Rant, the Recruiting Board, or the Coaching Changes Board had a positive influence on Hunter or any of our recruits. Our fanbase (at least our message-board-posting fan base) has been infiltrated by a bunch of whiny, insecure tools.

I read Dandy Don. He said he believes that all the negative talk babout crowton scared Hunter away.

Hardly.

And even if it did, the solution is not to stop the negative talk-- the solution is to fire crowton and replace him. The plain country fact is that if crowton didn't suck, there wouldn't be any negative talk to begin with. It cannot be denied by anyone on this board, not chicken, not belowpar, not a single breathing soul, that he is not worth a shite.

This really is a silly topic and I am suprised DD commented half-assedly without pursuing this logical inexorable conclusion. He is just writing to take up space on this point.

Dandy Don can blame Miles and Crowton if he wants to throw blame around. I cant believe im reading this sort of crap. The bottom line is the other foot may be dropping on Miles. Recruiting has been great and may have even passed Saban the last few years. That said, any recruit is going to take a double look at what they saw this year from Miles and dont think other coaches dont whisper that in those kids ears, too.

My take is recruiting is going to take a hit at some point when the actual coaching performance has been suspect at best. Then add to the fact what happened to RS redshirt and you can see why a kid might not trust the coaches decisions. Honestly im suprised more kids have not bailed on us. Lets hope Miles can rally some of these other big named kids over to BR before signing day.

Believe it or not, but it is true. I've talked to several current players that have told me this.
