Has nothing to do with less or more desirable. He made a commitment. That should be honored.
But if this type of injury is no big deal as you say, I really don't know, then it won't matter and he can still get his choice of schools. I just wouldn't blame a school or think less of them if they decided to pull their offer.

OK so a player and school should both honor the offer and committment. But, if a big time in state player with an offer to LSU tears an ACL, his offer shouldnt be honored?? The player should honor his commitment, but the school doesnt have to honor their scholarship offer to that player?? It goes both ways. I mean there is no difference in these 2 scenarios.
Player gets an offer, commits, then tears his ACL.
Same player gets an offer, doesnt commit, then tears his ACL.
It doesnt matter when a player commits and doesnt matter when a player gets hurt. If the player is good enough, you take him.
I never said this injury is no big deal. It is. But, its not a career killer like it used to be. And players come back as good as they were before if they arent rushed and if everything goes to plan. And Godchaux will be back in 8 months, which means he wont miss that much, if any, workouts and team activities in the summer.
And i get what youre saying. But, if a player is good enough, and Godchaux is, then you keep the offer on the table. And you take players on potential of what you think they could be at the next level, not what they are in high school. Players improve and get better.
Honestly, there arent that many DL that I would take over Godchaux. In the state, only 1 i would take over him is GWIII.

I hope Godchaux still gets an offer--he is certainly talented enough. Wish him the best in the road to recovery & know it is a huge disappointment for him to miss most of his senior season.
But I was wondering--what has LSU done in the past when a highly rated recruit that they want gets an injury like this--is there any precedent or any similar situation any of you can recall that will give us an idea of what may happen?

Good points. I see what you mean. It would not look good for LSU or any school. And I would hate to see this kid miss this opportunity.

Latest interview I saw of him he was very cool on LSU. In fact seemed to not want to discuss LSU at all. So I do not understand this "will Miles honor his word". Miles offered and it was rejected by Godchaux. That means LSU will keep looking and if there is still a spot for Godchaux maybe LSU will offer again. After the latest interview I dod not expect to ever see him in P&G. Now that he is injured and Bama and FSU back off lets see if he is all of a sudden interested in LSU. I hope we don't take him if his health is questionable.

I wonder if he really dislikes Coach Miles?
Sad part is there are tons of adults out there that know squat about college football but are very vocal in their dislike for Coach Miles.
They are mostly ignorant fans that just like to bitch or join in when someone else is bitching.
I hear these idiots around here often, but when pressed on why they feel this way or who could replace Miles they grow silent.
I consider these fans the worst of the worst.
Sometimes kids grow up hearing this and are drawn into it. It's really sad.
I would bet that given the chance to sit down with Coach Miles and talk they would be Miles fans for life. .

It wasnt "rejected". We offered, asked him if he wanted to commit, he said no. Doesnt mean he rejected the offer.
And certainly doesnt mean that we pulled his offer and have to "offer him again".
The offers been on the table since we 1st offered him.
And Hasan,

Talked to a former Plaquemine coach and he said that due to some of the questionable kids that grew up with Godchaux that this outstanding athlete is looking to sign with Alabama. It is nothing to do with LSU but more for his sake to get away from that type of negative environment....at least the kid is honest

No matter. Davon, I wish you a quick recovery and hope to eventually see you in PnG!!

You sir, seem to really know nothing about recruiting.

In-state guys not coming forth and telling folks that they're coming to LSU=Their going elsewhere??
Quinn wasn't exactly singing our praises either and for a good while, neither was BH. If Auburn wouldn't have taken Sean white a day or two before BH's announcement, people on here would have been nervous as shite. Now, he and Quinn are both Tigers. These kids just want their announcements to be earth-shattering. It's the times we're living in. It's the "in thing" amongst their peers. They only get this chance once. Let them enjoy it. And Memphis, I'm not talking about you. You were just the post before me.

I'm sure his brother would follow him wherever he went
Devin Godchaux, Davon's twin, was arrested for carnal knowledge of a minor in March.

Either your friend is having some fun at your expense or you are a troll. Davon grew up an LSU fan and would love to suit up for the Tigers. However, he is looking out of state for non-football, non-school reasons. He has to look out for his own well-being and I applaud him for that. I wish him a speedy recovery and a bright future because he is a really good kid. I just don't think LSU is in his future.

I remember a guy named Kwon Alexander that tore his knee either before or right at the start of his senior year, and had to miss it, and yet LSU still gave him a schloarship offer?? I wonder what happen to that kid...LMAO
