According to Rivals:

On Monday, named a top 5 in no particular order:
Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas A&M
Devall will take all 5 officials and is in no hurry.

He also said A&M and Bama are recruiting him the hardest. If this is true, shame on our staff. Devall would be a nice addition at MLB.

It's common knowledge that Devall likes the 3-4, but insiders have also said Momma wants him close to home. Stay tuned....

Why the shame? He likes a 3-4. Maybe Chief doesn't like him as a 4-3?

He's going to Alabama or Texas A&M, end of story. Momma can still go see him at either place.

I agree he ends up most likely at A&M or Bama, but thought the Rant should know LSU at least made his top 5. So, there's a slight chance Les and Frank can work some magic especially if he is postponing his announcement until NSD, like some are projecting now. The longer it goes, the better for LSU says MemphisPlaya. I believe him.

If he's set on playing in the 3-4 which looks to be the case right now we don't have much of a shot. We're not changing our defense just so he comes here. If we dont get him, which I'm sure we won't, we still have one of most killer LB classes ever with Davis, Louis and Feist...potentially to add Richie Brown too.

Again I agree with you about DD and the 3-4. It seems he wants to play Jack LB in a 3-4. I understand LSU will not change the defense but LSU is recruiting him to play MLB in a 4-3. I wouldn't underestimate Momma in this situation though. Momma is how we landed Rasco. I think he wanted to follow Muschamp, but Momma won in the end. It may be false hope but I it's hope. Although it seems like DD is giving LSU the cold shoulder treatment, he still proclaims to be LSU fan and named us in his top 5. If he's willing to look at all 4 LB positions at Bama, why wouldn't he look at MLB at LSU then? Again, he probably still ends up at Bama or A&M, but I like our chances better today than yesterday. Up from zero to 1 percent now....

I just don't see us taking ANOTHER LB in this class unless Les thinks one of them is going to bail or not pan out with grades or something. I say go get another OL guy.

The jack LB is very similar to our Right defensive end. Saban just calls it a jack, it sounds cooler and specialized, when in reality it's more less a rush end. Bama plays a 4 man front like 80% of the time anyway. If we would recruit devall as a rush end we'd probably have gotten better traction. Not sure we need another end though.

I put Devall in the same category as Bradley Slyve from last year. He is a really good player i would love to see in purple and gold but with the other guys at his position already committed it's hard to see him as a huge loss.

In an article today, Devall said that Saban can picture him playing in any of the 4 LB position. Like I said before, he wouldnt be a OLB at Bama. He might as well come to LSU if he is gonna play MLB.

It comes down to two other players. Whether Ryan Anderson is ultimately seen as a DE, and whether Alabama feels they have a great shot at Jordan Jenkins. If Anderson is seen as a guy that's going to grow into a DE, and Jenkins goes elsewhere, Devall could certainly be the Jack LB for Alabama's 2012 class.

I saw that. I hope he gets it going. I like Fobbs

And I've also read Devall quotes where he said his mom was a huge Saban fan

I think he is going to get moved to what LSU originally wanted him as...a DB. Doesn't do much there, will probably off the team.
