I wish he would just commit to Alabama and get it over with. Its lame that now all of a sudden LSU is back in his top five so we have to hear more about him and how Saban wants him to play 4 linebacker positions. Just leave man so we dont have to hear about you anymore. He deffinitely wont make or break this class on LC can do that.

Why the shame? He likes a 3-4. Maybe Chief doesn't like him as a 4-3?

chief runs 4-3, 3-4, and 4-2-5. he isn't married to one defensive philosophy. much like the h.c. at bama.

if this is the kids, issue, then saban is doing a better job of selling that angle than lsu is.

however, i still think it has more to do with randal/benton a few years back and how it was handled. Bradshaw was not happy and he just retired from bastrop but he still has influence.

Bama bound and I don't care! Go. Saban knows exactly where he wants DD to play but its feeding him a line of shite saying he could play anywhere!

As far as the mother thinking highly of Saban... all that means is she doesn't really know him. Hope she gets to know him better, then makes her son transfer away from Alabama in a couple of years.

LSU is back in his top five

Not what he told the Monroe paper (News Star) today:

quote:

"Basically, it's been Alabama and (Texas) A&M that's stuck out to me the most," he said. "I just have great relationships with the coaches and players and everything. They're just great atmospheres."

quote:

One of Bastrop's key returning players finished his junior school year leaning toward Texas A&M before receiving the Alabama, Mississippi State and Ole Miss offers.

The Crimson Tide, in particular, made the decision more difficult, he said.

But the whole process has been somewhat "overwhelming."

"I wanted to get it over with when the summer started, but then I had three more offers," he said. "It's hectic every day. You've got messages here from coaches, emails here, you've got calls and everything. It's just hectic."

Now, still undecided with his final high school season looming larger and larger, Devall said he has no timetable on when he'll make his selection.

"I just take it a day at a time," he said, "and whenever it happens, it happens."

Sounds like Bama or Texas A & M still.
We can quit talking about him and get back to starting multiple Collins threads.

LSU's pretty much out of this one, think most would agree.

if we're going hard after him now, it's probably because we don't stand that much of a chance anyway.

remember, he was one of the very first in-state kids to get offered, so you know he was pretty high on the wish list at teh beginning.

Early bird gets the worm. Recruiting has changed drastically from what it was in the very recent past. LSU MIGHT have really wanted to sign him and DD MIGHT really have wanted to come to LSU. But even if that is the case he has probably missed out on an LSU scholarship because he was pussyfooting around.

Not saying that is the case, as I doubt it is. Just pointing out that I don't think it is proper to say LSU "missed out" on him when we no longer have an all out press on the kid due us no longer having a 2012 need for his skills.

A lot of national recruiting pundits thought he had committed, or would, after a weekend visit with his family. But he's obviously still going through the recruiting process, with Alabama and Texas A&M in the lead right now.

Alabama usually gets who they want. Especially battling A&M for a recruit as opposed to LSU or UF. So the scouting services just claim he's committed trying to be the first to report but without actual facts

Texas does it too

I agree with Capstone. I think A&M is still in this as well. IMO, He isn't silent. Silent rumors are lame. Remember when DD was silent to A&M for a month and now hes silent to Bama? It's just message board garbage. Others are saying the fact he didn't commit is good for A&M and not Bama. I don't believe this either. He will most likely take all his visits and take his time now and according to Scout could be a NSD decision. Also Scout believes the long it goes, the more likely LSU gets back in it.

I don't recall the exact percentage, but Saban noted last week that we were in a traditional "3-4" less than 30% of the time last year.

Lsu still wants DD. They have slowed on him cause he hasn't shown interest but reports are Momma wants him close to home. 4 star Danielle Hunter is a projected DE. DD is also a natural DE but wants to play LB in college which is why lsu offered at MLB. I don't think hunter had any impact on DD recruitment. Lsu also has 3 projected top 250 LBers committed currently. That possibly has an impact and could be who you are referring.

Sounds like Espn and 247 style of reporting and ftr isn't scouts style usually.

It usually works out like that, but it's dependent on on the opposing offense. Alabama is a base 3-4, but uses four man fronts, can morph into a 4-2-5. I'd say Alabama is in nickel and dime, against most opponents, 60% of the time.

This is the modern day of football. Chavis said today at LSU media day lsu would be in a nickel/4-2-5 set up to 400 snaps this year. This is a direct reflection of the spread, air raid age of football..
