Now youre putting things in my mouth without my consent. I never said that. None of us know the extent of punishment that JH will endure, and the 14 year old will have her own kind of punishment as a result of this (not legal). Yes, I think anyone older than 17, without mental defect, who seeks sex with a 14 year old is a predator. It is easy to tempt a 14 year old as most are very impressionable. That person is effectively targeting the weakest animals in the herd.

I would hope no one is having sex with 14 year olds. However, I realize that there are some who will have sex with 14 year olds who do not have the maturity to consider all of the consequences, and so does society. I am comfortable with our elected representatives' determination, on behalf of society, with the current laws regarding sexual relations with juveniles.

Not all the details are the same and the GA laws are a little different, but this reminds me of the Genarlow Wilson case from a few years back.

So if we are so quick to say a 14 yr old doesn't know what is going on....
What do you guys believe about Daniel Hood, who didn't actively rape, but participated in tying up and not stopping the act...
I know it's a lot harsher, but from my earlier posts, the point is, I don't assume the 14 year old doesn't know what she is doing. Which is also why I'm no fan of Tennessee signing Hood. She knew what she was doing. I'm not arguing that JH didn't break the law, he did and will be punished. But I don't pass judgement on either except for the fact that they are incredibly dumb and horny.
If you want it fixed, put 9th graders in middle school to protect them from 12th graders.
Also, if she was forced, this all changes.
edit: Also, it's always easy "to coerce" aka talk a girl or trick her into something....it happens at least up until college, and probably more effective.

I actually went to a school like this, it wasnt to "protect" anyone though.
8-9th together
10-12th at another (technically the high school which held almost 4000)

I find it kind of odd that you think he's a horrible person even if it wasn't forced and they both agreed to it. I can almost guarantee you that SOMEONE at your high school who was a senior hooked up with a freshman. Chances are she was probably about to turn 15 very soon too.

Until 2 years ago I believe, the age of consent for males in England was 14, but for females it was 16.
So a reverse Jeremy Hill, let's call it a Dazed and Confused, was completely legal.
If the act was completely consensual, I figure the BRPD has far more important things to do than pursue this case.

Assuming that the girl acted willingly, I agree that heavy jail time and being labeled a sex offender is a bit extreme in this case (but that punishment for JH is called for). I also think as the 14 year old girl was a willing participant that makes her an accessory to the crime. Hence she should be punished as well. Hell, I might even punish her parents for good measure.
