I'm excited about this kid too but, LSU should bring him along slowly. Besides, a lot can happen between now and SIGNING day. I hope he and Narcisse both stay on board.

If the reports are true about Lindsey Scott, hopefully we won't have to worry about a starter until 2021

Brennan is the front runner for 2018. No way he starts next year. Way too many experienced QBs, 2 seniors.

Redshirt him, let him get in a S&C program and bulk up, then release him on the world in 2018. Will really depend on what coach we have too.

There are other QBs in front of him.

There's nothing Brennan has done for anyone to believe he will be starting in 18

Every other position in football regularly rotates guys. For most teams, this isn't the case with the QB. You really only see it situationally for some teams, but it's really more of a special package to put in a better run/pass option.

Aside from that, QB is very difficult to plug and play. Technique aside, it is by far the most cerebral position. It typically takes months or even years to get a guy fully knowledgeable of the system.

Yes, there are freshmen that have success, but they usually run a stripped down version of the offense.

Narcisse is more ready to play in the SEC than Brennan right now. He's a solid 6'3"/230... if he can just stay healthy

No! Why is it that it's acceptable for a good number of quarterback across this nation to start for their respective colleges but there is no way in hell a freshman can play QB for LSU. Well they have one playing for Aladamnbama right now and Brennan will be his same size this time next year. It's about the being cerebral, having the arm and acuraccy and ultimately fitting the system... If LSU starts playing a true spread throwing offense, throwing 35+ times a game, every game, no one on the roster will have more experience doing it than Brennan. The QB that best fills all these requirements should be able to start. No matter what his year.

I saw him against Brother Martin. He didn't put up no where near the numbers he does against those weak Mississippi teams. You think he is ready for SEC play year one?

I am not saying he will be the guy from day one. I am a realist. But I have watched him now for 4 years and he has the talent to play qb at any level. I am also quite sure his supporting cast at LSU is a heck of a lot better than what surrounds him at Stanislaus. It takes 11 players to execute a productive offense and stands to reason the better the teammates that surrounds a good quarterback the better the production should be from that good quarterback. I don't care what name is on the back of the QBS jersey I just want LSU to win games. I believe very strongly that is we run a spread offense where we will depend on our QB to read defenses, go through his progressions and deliver the ball accurately to the open receiver, I say no one will have done it more consistently over their career than Brennan. No matter what you think of the MS competition. It's all relative. He still had to walk the walk..

Last year Shea Patterson and Jacob Eason were the #1 and #2 qbs in the country as Seniors. One is starting the other is on the bench behind Chad Kelly. Eason managed to be out the competition which was lacking at Georgia and is doing ok as the starter. Chad Kelly was not going to be beaten out by a freshman. With all that being said Danny Etling will be in his thrid year at LSU next year and Harris in his fourth. Harris will not be beaten out by Brennan and Etling probably will not lose the starting roll to Harris. So that leaves McMillian and Scott. From all account Scott is the real deal. So at best Brennan is looking at 3 guys in front of him next year. Without a doubt Brennan and Narcisse will take red shirts.

From a purely size standpoint, I agree.

But you're talking about a kid who will have missed his last TWO years of high school football vs. a kid who has torn apart and made a name for himself the past 2 high school seasons as one of the bes tin the country.

Brennan might be 40-50 pounds lighter than Narcisse, but I'd consider him much more college ready come 2017/2018 than the guy who is just trying to get back on the field form injuries for the last 2 years.

That all being said, neither will play in 2017 unless we have a lot of transfers/injuries happen this offseason and into next year.

Agreed, I would rather see Brennan and Narcisse redshirt and battle everyone for the starting position when Etling and Harris are gone. I was just making a general observation that under the right circumstances and personel considerations a true freshman QB could play for LSU..

You also have to consider his talent level on his team is way less than the talent level against the team he went up against. You can only do so much if your OL wont block or receivers not get open as a QB.

Brennan still threw for 250 yards and ran for 50 more on Brother Martin with no turnovers. Pretty successful game for a guy severely limited by his own team vs. the team he was facing.

Remember when Brandon Doughty of Western Kentucky came into LSU last year and had by far his worst game of the season? Was that because of his play or the fact his team was way less talented than ours?

Same goes for Patrick Mahomes of Texas Tech. Had one his worst games last year against us, doesn't make him any less talented or as good as he really is.

MB needs to add about 40 lbs on his frame before I want him taking shots from SEC linebackers.

He's too skinny. If we get an OC that utilizes the spread, AND if Brennan was bigger, I could really see that as a possibility.

Kid needs to be at the very least 200 lbs before he sees the field.

IMO, I wouldn't have a problem with it with the above limiters because the team will be fairly inexperienced on defense and will still have Guice and Williams to take the load off on offense. He could get acclimated to the SEC and the WRs and be ready to make a push for the SEC title in 2018. It's similar to what Louisville went through with Lamar Jackson last year and what Texas is going through with Shane Buechelle this year. Very young and inexperienced teams with true freshman QBs.

ETA: But I also feel like Lindsey Scott could be dangerous in a spread system and it would be great if he could get an early start on his career by starting next year.

Go check out when was the last time that happened for those schools.

I'm not against it if the guy is good enough and we don't have a better option, but this doesn't happen often at any school.

I don't think anyone is meaning to say he's not good, because that would be stupid. He's going to be great for LSU. The fact is though, he won't be an early enrollee and won't have the playbook down. And unless he adds some weight then a red shirt may be just what he needs. I'm just glad that we have the problem of having experienced QB's battling young talented QB's in a new explosive offense.

Yeah LSU will have two senior qbs ahead of him

With a ridiculous amount of playing experience, unlike other circumstances

Not just one
