He had a horrible night for sure. Well he just had a good play on Defense lol
Thats where he belongs. I don't see this kid running the ball on a college level

Perhaps it was the pressure of the moment, but I didn't see anything special from Ely or Wilder. Mike Blakley at 5'9" turned the game out though.
I was expecting to see more from Ely considering the hype.

They also stacked the box with him in it. Not much he could do. Hopefully it makes some room for a LA guy to get his 5th.

Blakely was easily the star of the game, and that sophomore QB is someone to watch in the future. Plant High appeared to be very much overrated. Neither Wilder nor Ely showed much most of the game, but it's just one game. We'll see--I also think Wilder looked more like a LB than a RB.

Now I'm not saying he's Matt Barkley or anything like that but he's not a scrub.
He is legit. He can make all the throws a college QB needs to make.

however, james wilder at rivals #3 player in the nation is a joke.
Not that impressed with Wilder as a college RB. He drags people in HS, but college is a different matter. His vision isn't what it needs to be and runs real high. Beast? Yeah but I don't think he will pan out as a college RB. Runs inside like Harvey Williams used to run outside.

How is he legit ? The guy throws 5yd passes most of the game . The teams Plant plays all year (besides last night ) are terrible . His stats ars inflated . He throws a backwards pass and the guy goes 80yds for a TD and all I hear from the jackalopes on tv is that Ely threw an 80yd TD .
The talk in this area is that Ely is very overrated . Oh and is it me , or is it weird that Ely's dad recently purchased the new artificail turf for Plants home field . Not saying its fishy , but why would a guy buy 200K for his sons last year in HS .

yes Bama regularly pays 200k for 3star qb not in the top 10 in the nation.

Ely did nothing to impress me.
An outstanding player in HS should rise above the rest of the team, even in a losing situation.
I just didn't see that much to be excited about with him.

If you ask me both Ely and Wilder are over rated. I was not impressed at all. Now Blakely looked to be the real-deal.

Not basing my opinion on one game. He has the potential.

Those are pretty nice balls for a high school QB.
Ummm...I think that you should probably not use this sentence again...

6'6" Rivers >> 6'1" Ely
Yet Ely still weighs more. Rivers is a stick.

Probably more likely for Rivers to put on some weight than Ely growing 4 or 5 inches taller, don't you think?

Some guys have trouble putting on weight, others don't. But I don't remember his brother being that skinny at that age. So, I think it is more likely for Ely to add a couple of inches in height.
Don't get me wrong, I like Rivers as a QB. I wished Alabama had offered, but I seriously doubt he would have taken it. His family seems to still dislike Alabama for not offering his brother in 1999.
